I had a fantastic stay at this great hotel. The location is perfect (at most 200 metres from the harbour where you can get the boat trips to the fjords) and the staff were unbelievably welcoming. They were - without exception - warm, friendly, efficient, thoroughly professional, and they took real pleasure and pride in my verbal feedback about the hotel while I was there. All of the staff spoke fantastic English (as did every Norwegian I met in Bergen). The hotel is modern (kind of 'funky' too) in design, and the service is absolutely first class. Attached to/within the Hotel Magic is the 'Villa Casa' restaurant. Part of it serves as the breakast room, and the breakfast choices are varied - and wonderful! Villa Casa is a beautifully designed and lit restaurant; the food is magnificent - I had a seafood linguine that was incredible. Easily the best I've ever had (and I have had a few in my time - I lived in Italy)! I almost died from joy at that dinner table... They'd have carried me out in a smile-shaped coffin! There is also a pub attached to/in the hotel. It's hard to describe what I mean by 'attached to/in' the hotel. All I can say is: go and see for yourself! This is a really great place to stay. I was there Friday to Monday, and I cannot wait to go back; the next time will be in spring or summer, and I will be bringing others with me. And, did I say the staff are great?!?

Great location, Broken lamp shorting out not replaced as requested limiting lighting in the room, Bathroom not as clean as hoped, very poor sink drainage. Get back after day out and find housekeeping not done. Had to go and request clean dry towels from Reception also bathroom not cleaned. (Can live without my bed made and vaccumed) Had to ask for rubbish to be removed. No way to communicate with reception unless you run down to desk. Unfortunately we paid for these services that we did not get. Hoping this was only our experience and others have had better.

Ok hotel. I find the lighting in the rooms insufficient. I stayed on two different occasions, first time "on the roof", which was ok, second time in an internal room, which was far too warm and no working cooling. Rooms are on the small side. Sound insulation is good. Breakfast is great. Location near the fish market is also a plus. Close to the centre station of the light railway, so easy to reach from the airport.
