Maison Tonina

Interesting hotel, it’s a space that is confusing. Whilst the hotel is located in an apartment block, it has no signage or street presence. It’s location is on 2 blocks - so it’s 45 and 43 as the street number You walk though the construction at the base of the building which based on dirt and cobwebs been dormant for sometime. The lift to the 3rd floor is aged and on a few occasions decided not to work, 2 people at best or walk or 1 person and the luggage The hotel once you walk through the door is modern and has a mixture or antique furniture in the main area, filled with trinkets. The rooms clean and tiled floors with a blue accent, the bathrooms are adequate and the showers a little tight to move in. First night shower, blocked drainage, it took some convincing to get the owner via text to send people to clean and unblock the drain. Communication with anyone is only via text, not a great system when you have issues. There is a communal table to have a meal or breakfast, no toaster just some cutlery and plates and a coffee machine and kettle. No access to water - only in your bathroom. Inside the hotel it is lovely and the price per night is reasonable, but no services available It would be best summed up as an Airbnb.

Maison Tonina Sorrento was one of the best accommodation choices we've made. The location was great—a short walk to the train station and 3 minutes by train to Sorrento, where you can access the rest of the coast. While the outside of the building is unassuming, The room was absolutely beautiful—freshly renovated, with beautiful modern finishings and gorgeous blue tiles, fantastic amenities and a comfortable bed, a balcony, lots of space and good air conditioning. Very luxurious feel. The hotel also has a living space with a table, coffee and tea. We stayed in the 'Amalfi' suite and the views from our windows were spectacular, looking up over the hills across the street in one side, and mountains on the other. 10/10 would recommend for anyone travelling to Sorrento (/the Alamfi coast). Also, if you stay, make sure to check out local restaurant 'Lapillo' right up the street!
