A very nice place to stay for a couple days with big rooms, especially for Hanoi standards, and very friendly and helpful staff. If you want to stay in a bright and comfortable room, Maro is the place to book. So nice and cosy! One thing to improve would be the coffee at the breakfast buffet. I know, hardly a hotel in Vietnam serves acceptable coffee, but that doesn't hinder me to point it out again and again - get proper coffee please, it GROWS here!

We stayed in 3 hotels in Hanoi over 8 days and this was our least favorite. It is a nice hotel and the employees are mostly nice. It is located about 1 block from Hoan Kiem lake which is nice if you want to be directly in the thick of Hanoi. The rooms are nice and clean and the breakfast is fine. We were booked into one of the larger rooms in the front of the building. this put us right over the street which is incredibly loud day and night. If sleeping is not important you should have no problems, if you'd like rest you'll need to request a room in the back of the hotel. Our room came with a kitchenette which we hoped to use as an occasional reprieve but it was only an electric hot plate and a 10 qt. stock pot with no other utensils. Street food is the draw in Hanoi so this should not be a problem for most but definitely do not book here if you're interested in a kitchen. If you must be deep in the heart of the old quarter on one of the busiest streets, this hotel will do you just fine. We had a much better stay at Bonsella Hotel just a couple blocks away and a nice stay with great amenities at Thien Thai hotel just a little way outside of the old quarter.
