Marriott Vacation Club®, New York City

I had the pleasure of staying 8 nights at this hotel. I’m an owner so this review is from the perspective of ownership. Overall I had a blast and really enjoyed the property. However, it’s definitely not your typical Marriott Vacation Club / Abound property, but it has it’s perks which make it unique. Check in when a little clunky, but was resolved. I arrived a little early and was prepared to leave my bags and hit the city for a few hours. However, they said they had a room ready so I gladly accepted. The room would have been perfect, except the construction next door was super loud. I asked to be on a higher floor due to the noise and was given a few reasons that would be a problem. I told them I was okay waiting, but did not want to be hearing banging at 8:00 in the morning. They took my bags and texted when I had my new room. Everything else from that point on was perfect. The new room was the exact same, but just much higher so the noise was dampened. There is an attached cafe and also a nice bar at the top of the hotel. The rooms are small so just be prepared. However, it was fine for me since I travel mostly by myself. The furnishings were very nice, the shower had excellent pressure, and they had a small fridge, coffee maker, etc. The best part of my stay was the surprise of complimentary tours on sight. I did four of them while I was there and I can tell you I went to places I have never been in prior trips to NYC. Hector and Jocelyn were excellent, patient, and informative tour guides. I think other Pulse locations should think about having this at their locations to pull more owners to staying at their sites. Overall, an excellent trip. The only reason for 4 stars was the construction next door which I 100% know Marriott has no control over. However, a warning would have been nice just so I knew what to expect. Once the construction is done, the next time I stay I”m sure it will be 5 stars.

Part of Marriott Vacation Club Resorts - this is probably their most urban location and a most unusual/useful one at that. The other one that comes to mind is in Bangkok. Prior to our date of arrival, tactical online communication already provided us with details of the property to manage our expectations - on room sizes (compact), no onsite F&B services, no room upgrades, etc. So there were no surprises. What this hotel lacks is probably made up by its amazing midtown location close to Time Sq and the Empire State Building. The front desk was nice enough to check us in early after we arrived on the red eye from the west coast. The team was always cordial and helpful during our two-night stay. Thumbs up NYC! The nearest subway stop is about a 10-minute walk away but the neighbourhood is decent and quite safe. Hotel accommodation rates in NYC are stratospheric so this is a pragmatic alternative in terms of cost and location . No arguments. Had a very decent problem free stay.
