Great location. The rooms are okay. The Mason hotel is in a cosmopolitan area of Shanghai.

Highly unrecommended hotel!!! Very rude lady at the front desk. She refused to call a taxi for me and told me instead to hail one myself. This was a terrible customer service.

I stayed here several times on business trips. There was also a staff member who could speak Japanese at the front desk. The rooms are comfortable and there are exercise machines in the hotel. There is a Daiso 100 yen shop in the shopping center across the street, which is conveniently located near the station (to be exact, Daiso is a 10 yen shop, so it is not 100 yen when converted to Japanese yen)

There was a musty smell every time I entered the room, but I got used to it once I was inside. The room is dark, so if you're working on your computer, it's better to have a light on. The treadmill was out of order, but the training machine was surprisingly efficient and useful. Breakfast is like a Chinese hotel breakfast, so don't expect too much. We have toast and fried bacon. There is no washing machine, so if you are staying for a long time, you will have to wash or clean by hand.
