Friendly and helpful staff. Good and varied breakfast which was good value with children. Would happily visit again.

We stayed here at the end of August, it was a pleasant experience. I will warn those of you who are picky that this is not the place for you, but for those who are looking for a reasonably-priced well-located hotel, this is a fantastic option. The hotel is roughly a 5 or 10 min walk to the public transit options, depending on if you take the tram or the subway (respectively). Not terrible by any means, but a little tiring if you don't have your walking shoes and are carrying heavy luggage (in which case, just get a taxi). We arrived very early in the morning and the receptionist let us leave our bags secure with them until check in time at 2PM while we went to explore the city. The room itself was plenty for my wife and I, neither cramped nor sprawling. We had plenty of space for all of her bags to be strewn out and her makeup/accessories laid about every imaginable surface, no complaints there. If you're an American, you'll find the bathroom to be a bit tight, but after a few days in Europe your expectations should be sufficiently lowered. That being said, they have all the necessary facilities (shower, toilet, sink, hair dryer). The air conditioner worked well, even though we didn't really need it since the weather was in the low 60s F during our stay and we like the chill. There are a few cafe's on the neighboring street which are quite nice, we had breakfast at Neuhausen right on the corner and it was delightful, even a bit upscale for what we expected. There was also a "supermarkt" within about a 5 min walk, so you can get extra supplies/snacks if you desire (the ones in the room are not free). Now then, I will try and put my feet in the shoes of a Karen for all you Karenfolk out there. Here would be my complaints: The water pressure is too strong (hint, you don't have to pull the knob all the way out), the elevator is extremely small (2 people and 2 suitcases max), the breakfast is expensive (15 Euro per person), the receptionist has a German attitude (in reality very friendly if you charm them with your feeble attempt at German, but otherwise the interactions feel transactional), the pillows are not fluffy enough, the double bed is literally two beds pushed together (fine by me, my wife turns into an oven when she sleeps, I was finally at hospitable temps all night), but above all- they're constructing a new building across the street (heaven forbid). I will say they only work during business hours, but yes it is quite noisy (if that sort of thing bothers you). All things considered, I would say this is a fantastic location for the price, it in no way hindered our first trip to Munich. I would happily stay here again, though in an ideal world if money were no object I would pick someplace right in the Altstadt. Vielen Dank Hotel New Orly!
