This was probably one of the best experiences of my life! It has a bumpy start but I promise it is worth it!! You will be collected from the hotel between 8 and 8.30am despite the itinerary advising 8.30. Be ready for collection from 8 as the driver may collect guests from a number of hotels. The guests they pick up are chosen due to location and may not be on your boat. There is a drive of just over 2 hours to the jetty. Along the way you will stop at a destination for bathroom and coffee. This destination has numerous pearls and jewellery available for sale. You will stay less than 30 minutes here. You will then be driven to the jetty. Absolute chaos is present as they sort endless arrivals of tourists. Your luggage, carry on and even sometimes you as a person will be labeled with a coloured tag. This determines which boat and room number you will have. Your luggage is then loaded onto a transport boat. You will sit in the lounge first around an hour while they process everyone. Get a seat early as there is not enough. Lots of confused tourists everywhere. There is a bathroom. If you have any food allergies etc then they will obtain this information here so be very clear. Without warning you will be ushered onto an old and unimpressive small boat/ferry to take you to the main boat. Note they will mix tourists on the small transport boat and will give briefings from the front of the boat. This again just leads to more confusion and chaos when they unload some and not others. Upon arriving on the main boat you will have a briefing during which you will be given a lot of information. Unfortunately this is quite difficult to understand. You will then be given your key. This is where the fun starts! We stayed on Classic 03. The room was absolutely stunning! The boat is beautiful! The view is the most remarkable thing I have ever seen. The staff are the friendliest people on earth and one night is not enough!! We tried to do as many of the onboard activities as possible including the hike to the cave, cooking class, kayaking. The food was spectacular and you will not spend one moment feeling hungry. I don’t want to leave!!! Thank you to our amazing host and her team aboard especially Tonny and Elle. Bring extra cash to tip the staff! Do this! You will not regret this!!!

We stayed on Orchid Classic #3 and were looked after by the amusing Ms Trang and her team. We stayed 2 days and 1 night 15/16 December 2023. Staff were super attentive at all times (you couldn’t stand up without someone racing across the room to help you with your chair). The scenery around Ha Long bay is amazing. The room was very neat and well prepared and extremely spacious (see photos). It was great having a private balcony to sit on and watch everything go by. The food was extremely excellent … best I’ve had in Vietnam so far by a wide margin. Highly recommended. I wish we did 3D2N. My only complaint is that the onboard WiFi/Internet is terrible. It does not cover the whole ship and rarely works well. They need to install more access points and Starlink.

I had a great time on Orchid Cruise - Classic! The food and service was exceptional. Activities include Trang Trung Cave, Kayaking, a cooking demonstration and morning tai chi. It was very relaxing and fun. Keisha served my partner and I at all food services. He was polite, nice and and provided great attention and service! Emmanuel was the cruise manager and was very organised and nice. I would recommend to my family and friends!

We stayed on Orchid Classic 1 for 3D2N on 4 September 2023. I want to talk about the difference in treatment between the westerners and the asian on this cruise, particularly by the staff named David and his crew. On my Day 2 in Viet Ha Village tour (5 September 2023), I felt the prejudice extremely strongly as we were the sole Asian participants on the day boat. We were the first to return from kayaking, and when we came down, the staffs were leisurely seated around the tables. The main tour guide, David, not only occupied our seats but also took the liberty of relocating our personal belongings to accommodate himself. There were many available seats so I don’t understand what was his point. The staffs didn’t do anything when we returned but what shocked me was when all the other westerners returned to the ship almost 1 hour later. They immediately went to on the air conditioner, and asked them what drinks they want because there were free cocktails and juice. Like ???? we have been here 1 hour ago hello? And they asked them for two separate time periods, totally ignored us, which made us feel very uncomfortable and marginalised. Everyone on the ship paid the same amount of money to be there, your crew should be trained or carefully selected to treat all guests equally provide the same type of service and respect, especially for David and his service crew from the day boat who needs serious training in customer service etiquette and cultural sensitivity. I still want to give a shoutout to the main manager, Emmanuel, for being so hospitable towards us and made commendable efforts to mitigate the impact of David's lamentable conduct. I sincerely wish that Orchid Cruise would take this issue seriously and ensure that such incidents do not mar the experience of future guests.
