Orka World Hotel & Aqua Park

We stayed in the annex swim up room and honestly it was a beautiful room and the main hotel was lovely. There was a bus that would pick you up to take you to the main hotel or it was about a 10 minute walk. The food at the main hotel was very hit and miss, majority of the time it wasn't that great but we never went hungry. The people and the owners where lovely people and very helpful and friendly. The entertainment staff, where great and my children loved seeing them coming out every night for their mini disco. One thing I would say, is that we where there for 2 weeks and on the second week we saw the same entertainment shows as the first week. But all together fantastic holiday.

3 star rating purely because I believe this hotel is more of a 3 star than a 4 star hotel. We have just returned from our 5 night stay at Orka world and here are our takeaways that I wish I had read before booking: Positives -All staff are very friendly and happy to help, from cleaners to barman to reception we couldn’t fault them even with a language barrier. -The rooms are clean we stayed in the Annex part of the hotel which looks a lot newer to the rest - The evening entertainment was great , cannot fault it. Negatives - THE FOOD! The comments below saying how great it is I am unsure if they stayed at another hotel!!! It is edible but very little choice, not fresh and most things are not labelled making it hell for those with dietary requirements. The food is basically the same thing every lunch and evening with little change and made to a poor standard. As a vegetarian I mostly lived off a diet of chips and buttered pasta as the salad is washed in the tap water and would upset my stomach. My partner eats meat and had more choice but still opted for a large side portion of chips every night to help bulk up the meals. Not the 4 star food that I’ve had in the past. Weirdly there were more desert choices than main food choices. Hence why I say I think this hotel is a 3 star and the quality is much more to that standard. - Along with the poor food, the restaurant toilets seem to have a sewage issue which made the dining room smell vile the entire time we stayed , me and my partner were very put off by the smell and heard other guests mention this too. - Communication, I totally understand there is a language barrier however a lot of things were never written down or told to us on arrival. We had booked a double room as we are a young couple. Instead we got a 3 single bed room? The beds were unable to be pushed together as there are partitions between the beds. When we made reception aware and asked for the room we had booked they said yes we will sort you double. An hour later someone turned up just to push the beds together in the middle of the room and shove a double duvet over! As we were tired at this point me and my partner decided to make do but it was far from perfect having no headboard so the pillows fell off the bed, a gap constantly in the middle of the bed which we fell down and really just a poor night sleep so we ended up dealing with both having a single which wasn’t ideal. On arrival we were also driven to the annex part of the hotel which is completely separate across a road from the main hotel, about a 10 minute walk from reception. This was fine for us but it was never explained or a map given as to how to get back to the main eating hall and reception so we were following the public road up until we spotted another person using the gate cut through. We really think it would be helpful to give a map and mention the gate to those new to the hotel as we ended up telling many people braving the road at 11pm which is poorly lit with traffic, no one had been told - The wifi isn’t great, our tv and phone in the room also did not work but all issues that can be looked past Overall the hotel is okay, it’s more of a “butlins” like hotel we thought. Good for a cheap holiday for the family. The annex part of the hotel is trying to bring a bit more luxury but sadly the rest of the hotel falls short from this. For a couples holiday I would say try somewhere else, for a fun family get away where you aren’t really bothered about “4 star luxury” I would maybe recommend as it is a fun cheap hotel. For us though sadly we will not be returning as it wasn’t for us but lots of young families we spoke to loved it as a cheap all inclusive getaway.
