I have been in and out of this hotel several times on business. The last time I was there (December ‘23) I was shocked to see that they allow their personnel to smoke indoors. The secondary foyer had a permanent smell of smoke which was surprising until I saw people actually smoking in and around the central desk. In what century are we in? This is simply a disgrace and should be unacceptable. Other members of staff, guests and visitors to the hotel should not have to put up with this. Already people are smoking in the doorways so it is hard to enter and exit without being drowned in smoke. Fortunately I have not seen this practice in other hotels in the area, but at this hotel they seem to turn a blind eye.

6-7th September 2023 - we were very satisfied with our stay at the Palace Hotel in Lake Como. A grand building that has beautifully landscaped gardens giving it a great appeal. Rooms - Our room was spacious and clean with all the required conveniences. We opted for an included breakfast which was fantastic. A wide variety of all the breakfast classics in a classy ballroom. Service - from the moment we arrived we were taken care of with parking and luggage and check-in. The staff were friendly and polite and made us feel extremely welcome. Location - very central to the city and plenty of options of restaurants in the area, all within walking distance. Views of the lake from the front of the hotel.

This hotel is good on 3 star hotel standards. This is not a 4 star hotel. The rooms are outdated and the service was not great. No one helped us with our bags when we got there, there was no concierge at the desk when we came back after dinner, the walls are very thin, and the “queen” bed was actually 2 twin beds pushed together and the mattresses were uncomfortable. On a positive note, the hotel was clean and it is in a great location.
