Park House Hotel Museum Quarter, Sonder by Marriott Bonvoy

Great location and value. We booked a last minute trip to Amsterdam and feel like we really lucked out with selecting this hotel. Rooms are small and no-frills but comfortable, clean, and perfect for a Euro-trip when you are out all day exploring and really just need a place to shower and sleep. The lobby space is cozy and you can enjoy complimentary coffee and tea next to the fireplace. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Amsterdam

Great location… but budget services for premium prices. You can tell immediately that there are serious maintenance issues with the place. - The main lift was broken (luckily there was a service lift that could take us half way but there was still one set of stairs that’s we could do nothing about with big suitcases) - It’s not possible to manually control the air conditioning if you not a fan of air con. It turns back on automatically every 2 hours to 25 degrees Celsius at full fan force. Luckily staff were able to force ours off but it still felt like we were getting over flow from other rooms. Every day there were tradespeople in the hallway with toolboxes and broken pipes trying to fix something. - the bathroom fixtures were rusting and kind of moldy - the tap in the sink is so close to the edge of the basin with such high water pressure that every time you used the tap the whole bench top flooded, along with anything you on it - They have a rat problem… I understand that most of Amsterdam dose but I couldn’t see any efforts to control them like traps or baiting. We made the mistake of leaving our curtains open one night and could see many of them running back and forth outside. - The ‘double bed’ is actually two single mattresses. I probably wouldn’t have booked this place if I had known that as is very uncomfortable with a partner. - asked for a single king blanket for the top of the bed, first guy we asked said it would take 24 hours, waited till the next day and asked one of the female staff members who went straight to a cupboard and gave us one immediately which was quite confusing?? - Mattress toppers were stained - female staff were great and very friendly, male staff not so much
