Clean, good location. Wifi does not reach the rooms which is inconvenient and should be addressed so four stars for that. Rose was very helpful. She spent almost an hour helping me set up my sim card and load it. She also refused a tip saying it is her duty. She is a wonderful host. The price for the room is a little high in my opinion but still fair.

Very nice and clean and safe place and very much excellent service and staff is so kind and thoughtful and generous and so helpful To me Sometimes to a point !!.. Some of the staff maybe got upset with me. They just didn't truly understand what I was going through. Weather they care or not I don't know. But I very satisfied with everything there and wish them very much blessings 🙏 and each one would find Jesus Christ as their personal saviour

An oasis of tranquillity in a busy area. Very simple but clean rooms at affordable prices, with very pleasant staff. Food is available at affordable prices. A lovely breezy terrace. Currently the front desk and kitchen is out of operation from 7pm, but check in possible by arrangement. This is out favourite place to stay in Manila.

FIVE STARS FOR THIS '3-STAR' HOTEL! The quasi-neo-colonial (I am guessing) decades-old architecture is rustic yet well-maintained and remodeled. The interiors are clean, spacious, and with modern bathrooms. Melate is a lively area with plenty of street food and global cuisine, in addition of course to spots to explore Filipino staples such as sisig, adobo, and pancit (which is basically the Filipino rendition of Chinese fried rice or pad Thai -- most people who first try Pinoy cuisine start with pancit). Anyway, back to the hotel. The Pensione is quiet and calm despite being located on a busy road, and the lobby/cafe area is pleasant, spacious, and offers ample seating. I appreciate the original tile flooring, and, if you can, get room 404 or 405, because those rooms are where guests are treated to a view of sunset light through a large, old-growth tree canopy, with birds chirping in the background. The beach (yes, Manila has one!) is only a block away, and many Embassies are close by as well so I would recommend any traveler have a nice day or two here before or after venturing away from Manila Madness to Boracay or Palawan or Baguio. I wish I could stay at the Pensione (I use the traditional French spelling) for a week or two, or even a month. Very, VERY few modern hotels for budget travelers can compete with this historic, atmospheric establishment.

I have been staying in this Pension house for 15 years. They are clean and safe and very accommodating. They have a restaurant that offers short order items available around the clock. This is perfect for late night arrivals or early morning departures. Their green salad and mixed fruit is wonderful and they serve homemade whole wheat bread for an extra charge that makes all their sandwiches amazing. They have three types of rooms, dorm, private fan and private air conditioned rooms. They are currently updating all of their bathrooms and most have been finished already. They also offer luggage storage and lockers. If traffic noise bothers you, I recommend asking for a room in the back building. They only have stairs so if you have a lot of baggage it can also be helpful to ask for a ground floor room. All around a great place to stay!
