Riad Dar Al Amal

We spent 3 nights in this Riad but our experience was not good. They had great problems with the electrical system and the heater in our room was not working. Room and bathroom were very cold because in mid winter Marrakech is hot in afternoon but freezing at night and in the morning. The afternoon of the second day, after complaining a lot, they provided a portable electrical heater which made the room and bathroom finally comfortable but sometimes the electrical system was shutting down. Despite these problems the full rate was requested (80€ per night) at the time of payment. The location is good and the room itself is nicely furnished but quite dark, there is only a window, included for bathroom area which is part of the bedroom and there are limited electrical lights. The room is not soundproof at all. Many noises, mainly loud chatting, were coming from the internal courtyard and from the stairs but our days were probably peculiar because of the electrical problem that they was trying to cope with. No cleaning service or complimentary water during our stay. None of the personnel working during our stay was speaking English, neither a little bit, and therefore it was very difficult to communicate. But if you speak French no problem. The breakfast was basic even if with some homemade and lactose free (as we needed) products, yet served in e freezing outdoor (there were 5/6 degrees in the morning). I do not recommend this accommodation in winter, it probably is more pleasant in mid season.
