We must have been in a newly renovated room because I didnt think ours was dated as everyone else is claiming. Our stay was fantastic! The location and views were on point. It is walking distance from shops and restaurants. The pool, bar, and cabanas are right next to the ocean. We had Don’s for breakfast which was outstanding!! Everything was priced fair, too. The luau was beautiful! The line went by fast, food was 7-8/10, and the open bar was a plus. My favorite part of the resort was the private lagoon. Just watch your feet for sharp rocks and sea urchins. The only small down fall, was that the fees really add up. $25/day for parking, $100/night incidental deposit that needs to be paid upfront, and our 4 night stay required $127(?) resort fee. So make sure to read the fine print while booking, luckily I did so we were prepared. Other than that, we loved our stay and will be back.

This was my second stay on the big island and we decided to stay here to make it more affordable. The buildings are a little dated and the rooms are as well. The wooden drawers kept magically opening in our room and it smelled a little funny inititally. We still enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfortable and we really liked our view from the lanai. The restaurant downstairs is great and the view you could pretty much just sit there all day. The pool area is also great and relaxing and I loved that they had a little kiddie pool for the kids. Overall we enjoyed our stay and I would recommend to anyone wanting to stay somewhere affordable on the big island

The service at the hotel as well as the quality of the room was excellent. There was a little exterior work being done, but it was almost unnoticeable while we were there. The interior courtyard of our building was a little rough on the edges and could use a little refresh. I would not hesitate to stay at this property again. While we had a car for other travel sightseeing, we enjoyed having so much food and shopping in a short walk.

Really enjoyed this hotel! Rooms are a bit outdated but the service, friendliness, and scenery overcome that obstacle. Lacy served us(a good size group) two nights in the bar and didn't miss a beat. She was amazing and fun! Saw Spinner dolphins around 2-3 daily. The open air restaurant and bar had great food and portions for a very reasonable price. The drinks were a bit on the expensive side though. Many off-site restaurants, bars, shops, and tour booths are within easy walking distance. Enjoy!!

I have to start by saying that even though I am giving this review I would likely stay here again due to the location of this hotel. The rooms are standard hotel rooms, a bit spacious but musty/mildew smells and old lighting fixtures. I believe a 3 star rating is accurate. It’s an older hotel. It is updated in certain areas like check in. The rooms were a bit dingy. Unfortunately we were not able to enjoy the amenities of this resort like the pool and lagoon. We arrived for check in at 3 pm. I have never been turned away from check in at any other hotel but since I was an hour early I was turned away and told to come back. We went and shopped at came back at 4. There was a long line. We were told that they were not going to be able to check in any guests for another 30 minutes due to a server being down. We had planned on using the resort self laundry service so we left found a laundromat and came back at 5:45-6pm thinking that it had been plenty of time and we would not have an issue. Again we were greeted by a very long line. Apparently the hotel had gotten a new check in system and none of the staff knew how to use it so they were trying to check people in while navigating the new system. Now- I give them a little leeway because I know new computer systems can be tricky to learn however when we FINALLY got checked in at 7:30, we were not offered anything to compensate for all of the delays and the unclear communications. Parking at the resort is $25. It was not waived. The resort fee was also not waived. I was given a ticket for 2 free drinks at a bar- but my husband and I do not drink alcohol so it didn’t do us any good. We had planned on relaxing at the hotel and enjoying the amenities that afternoon and evening and were unable to. We checked out for an excursion at 6:30 am the next morning. We had chosen this hotel because of the location and proximity to the ocean and the views and we were not able to experience any of it. Again- I understand things happened but just saying “oh yeah sorry we are learning a new system” isn’t enough when you have 100 guests waiting in long lines for many hours in a resort town like Kona. A backup plan is needed.
