Our stay at Sangregado was an amazing journey to say the least. It was a very spacious lodge with lots of high quality amenities in the room. The only issue we had was the water pressure was a bit low, but that’s sort of a niche problem. The staff was great in guiding our vacation and providing us services when necessary. There was definitely significant interest in safety and privacy so if you need that it’s great for you. When the weather is great there is a good of the volcano as well. The location was great by the hanging bridges, however it was a little difficult to go to the city with the distance and the windy roads so food options were a bit limited. But overall it had a modern feel and great staff so I’d stay there again if I return to la Fortuna.

I can’t speak highly enough about the Sangregado Lodge, it is one of the most amazing places I’ve ever stayed. The view alone from the balcony was worth it. A small part of me regretted all of the adventure activities I had planned each day, because I could have been just as content sitting on the balcony all day. Despite there being clouds on the volcano for most of the stay, one afternoon we were blessed and the clouds moved and we had a picture perfect view of the entire volcano. It is true that the lodge is out of town and away from things, but that is exactly what we were looking for. A few minutes away down the mountain is lost iguana hotel which offers and wonderful breakfast for the lodge guests. We also had dinner there one night which was lovely. If you are looking for a secluded piece of paradise, I can not recommend the Sangregado lodge enough!

The location is amazing and shares a parking lot with Mistico hanging bridge park. The rooms are awesome and the giant bed was super comfortable. The views of Arenal volcano are breathtaking and can even be enjoyed while taking a shower. The large sliding doors and patio swing were perfect for watching birds and listening to nature. When we arrived the host was waiting for us and provided us with ice cold coconut drinks! Highly recommend if you’re visiting La Fortuna and Arenal.

This was a wonderful away from the hustle and bustle of Fortuna nature immersion (yet close enough to make trips to town or catch local excursions with our rental car). We had the benefit of a modern place to stay with amazing housekeeping and staff yet enjoyed a wide variety of animals just outside our room. The view of the volcano was amazing and being able to hike at Mistico was great. we hired a guide and they pointed out so many more things than we would have seen on our own. I would highly recommend!

We were really disappointed with our stay at Sangregado. It is next to the entrance to the cloud forest, there are huge floor to ceiling windows that face the volcano, the desk staff are very nice. That is all the positive stuff. Unfortunately the floor to ceiling windows don't have shades so when the sun comes up at 5:30am you get scorched by it and it's definitely time to wake up. There is no where to unpack and put clothes, no shelves or drawers or closet, nothing. There were two shower heads in our shower except only one worked, this seemed weird. The real show stopper though was that they rented us a room next to where they were building another unit so we had construction happening throughout the day right next to us. To make matters worse there were construction workers who could see into the shower which also had floor to ceiling windows and no blinds. This is entirely unprofessional and their response to telling them that we couldn't shower during the day one day was sorry we'll tell the workers to be more careful when and where they work. No meaningful action taken, disgusting. Also, don't be tricked by the website talking about their huge grounds. It's all untamed jungle and you can't go anywhere except the single path that leads to all the rooms.
