Sheraton Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort

I am very disappointed with Sheraton, have they have set new standards? This is definitely not a 5 star resort, 3 star at best. A 50-minute drive from the airport, and when we eventually arrived, we thought we were entering a real luxury resort. The lobby area is huge and spacious, with seating all over the place. I'm very impressed. It took a little bit of time at check-in , but 17 guests could take time, so I won't complain in that regard. We got to the room, and man, my excitement was drained immediately. The rooms are so 1980's , so poorly maintained. Really, Sheraton? We had a beach view room, so I needed to turn my head that way to distract me. The bathroom is also so bad, barely any pressure from the bidet, and a broken pan. The room size is decent, but it's a struggle to keep more than 1 large luggage bag packed aside. There is no space there. The staff don't clean rooms properly. Even empty wrapping on the floor, will remain on the floor. Chocolate crumbs on the side table was there since the day it was messed. Staff only prepare the beds and change towels. The 2nd day I even asked for new towels because I felt they put used messed towels back up. The staff also cannot understand English. How does Sheraton not educate their staff in this regard? Is this hotel only for Vietnamese speaking guests? We order hot chocolate, they bring us chocolate milkshake. They barely understand anything. It was really exhausting. READ THIS SLOWLY: TWICE I CAUGHT THE STAFF PREPARING DRINKS, DIP THEIR FINGERS IN DRINKS TO TASTE. I WAS REALLY SHOCKED TO SEE THIS AND IMAGINE WHAT THEY COULD BE DOING IN PRIVATE COOKING AREAS, IF THEY DO THIS OPENLY? There are two breakfast restaurants on either side of the pool, and that was not bad. The variety was decent and there was always food available. Well I'm lying, I wanted Nutella chocolate spread one day and they didn't have. The pool and beach area is first class. I really enjoyed the beach (technically nothing to do with Sheraton), but another fail here is that all the water sports are quite a walk. There is nothing at the hotel site. The theme park is close by which is a plus for this resort. They offer free shuttle rides to and from the parks. Last but not least, we asked for late check out since our flight is in the evening, but they only provided for one room. As elite members, we were treated like regular guests, but even a regular guest should be treated like royalty, so this is unacceptable from Sheraton!!! I will not be booking at any Marriott hotels if I ever come to Vietnam again. But thank you trying 🙏

Absolutely beautiful resort. We are Marriott Bonvoy members and were excited to discover they have some properties in Phu Quoc. I was a little nervous after reading reviews, but I’m starting to realize that so many travelers are just unhappy people. The staff were all excellent and extremely helpful and hard working. I’m not sure how they can maintain a smile on their face having to deal with entitled and ungrateful patrons on a regular basis. But yet, they do. I don’t think we had a single even slightly negative experience with a single staff member during our stay. The staff at the pool and the beach were super helpful. All the employees at breakfast/dinner were working very hard to keep our tables clean and fill up food in the buffet. Want to give a shout out to Chef Siddique who was extremely helpful despite so many inconsiderate guests. The property itself is great! The lobby was gorgeous and beautifully decorated for Christmas. We had a four bedroom villa overlooking the lake and everything in our villa was perfect. The property is a little bit far from town, so not a ton of things to do outside the resort unless you want to go to the amusement park. But since we are so far from everything, our beach was so peaceful. The water was super clean and I didn’t see any litter on the beach. That truly made my day, as I’ve had a lot of frustration traveling Vietnam and seeing how people treat the land. The pool is huge! Water was a little cool so we spent the majority of our time swimming in the ocean. We were at the Marriott Merlin Beach in Phuket recently, and I was comparing the beaches. I think this one is better. Both are equally beautiful, but there are no rocks in the water to stub your toe or cut your feet on. Really wish we had an extra day to enjoy this resort. Weather at the end of December was perfect. We hope to be back in the near future.
