Scammers they where demanding I pay for a booking that never was. The rudeness was dripping everywhere I can only assume they wrote there own reviews They kept demanding I pay for a booking I can only assume they created for twice the time I wanted to stay. They kept demanding over and over saying I made there phoney booking and had to pay. They kept demanding even 12 hours later sending me there phone bookings to authorize and pay I will not pay, I wonder how much they would have scammed from a visitor to our shores or young people. This was the second time in less than 24 hours I was scammed in Auckland by the end of 24 Hours I was subject to a total of 4 The backpacker seems to be run by a family from India. They seem to be unaware of New Zealand law or just dont care Stay away from this nightmarish hell

Wouldn’t go here as a female (solo) traveller… A friend and I were supposed to stay at Silverfern for two nights. We were put in a smelly, old room full of men. Which in and of itself is not the issue. But the fact that one of them came in at 5am, stood in front of my friend’s bed and proceeded to stare at her for ten minutes, definitely is. We both felt really unsafe in the area, hostel and room. Unclean, lots of shady activities so all in all not a success. We didn’t stay for the second night.

Women, please don't come here. Me and my friend were supposed to stay here for 4 nights and left the second (reception was closed the first night). I don't understand how a place like this is still open and has 3 stars. Most unsafe expirience of our lifes. The hostel is full of creepy men that look like criminals, roaming around the halls all day talking to you and staring at you. The place doesn't look like the pictures, everything is dirty and destroyed. The floor in our room looked like a murder scene not to mention our room was underground, no windows in the whole floor and it smelled like death and sweat. There isn't a second of the day where there aren't men everywhere. Really small kitchen, only one shower and one toilet for two floors. There is a building in the back filled with gangs and meth heads. Streets are VERY unsafe. You can't lock your room from the outside so anybody can just come in and take anything. This is the worst hostel we've ever stepped foot on.

One of the worst places to live in the world, imagine with him? No cleanliness, no prices, no treatment, no safety in terms of your own purposes inside the room, as well as outside the housing is a street full of drug traffickers, whether inside or abroad, and I do not know how the New Zealand government issued him the license to open a housing. I hope that the competent authorities will do their part and protect the consumer and do an immediate inspection on the site. The site is full of harmful insects and there is not much and a lot and it is not fit to be a residence for livestock and careless.
