Smart Stay Beach Bodrum - All inclusive

We stayed here years ago and loved it but I guess the management has changed since then because this time it was a huge disappointment (so not sure where all the positive reviews come from). The only positives I can give are for the nice boy that brings the sunbed chairs (Apo), Aik & his friend and the lady who cleans the rooms, who were absolutely lovely, helpful and very friendly. The rest of the staff is absolutely indifferent, not helpful and behave like they do not want to be there at all. Rooms are overall acceptable. As others have flagged, food is “recycled” from previous days and unless you get to the restaurant at the time of opening, there is not much left and it is rarely re-stocked. If you decide to queue for food, carry your patience with you as it takes ages and you need to stand and sweat in a non-air conditioned space. There are not enough tables for everyone to sit especially at lunch when it is 30 degrees outside and half of the terrace is not covered so there is no shade whatsoever. No shade on the upstairs terrace either where the bar is not even open (contrary to what the website says). The beach by the sea is nice-ish and it is indeed a short walk away BUT it is not even half enough for the hotel’s capacity so by 11AM, be prepared to jump over someone’s legs or head to get to the sea. And finally- our room was facing the hotel next door. If you’re like me and you are unable to sleep with an AC on, you can kiss your night sleep goodbye as there is blasting music and drunk tourist shouting outside until the crack of dawn. This was flagged several times to staff & management, they couldn’t care less… Bodrum is a lovely place to be but if you want to enjoy it fully, just book somewhere else. Such a shame though as the location is great and it used to be such a lovely family hotel!

The hotel has good position and is close to the beach and a lot of bars and restaurants. The hotel is old and everything in it but it is clean and comfortable. I really did like the food over there, there was a lot of choice and was always fresh. All the staff is really helpful and friendly but must of them don’t speak English only the entertainment guy Onder. He is also very friendly and will help you in everything. He is organizing parties at the local clubs. He is also open for conversation.
