I have been looking for a hotel like Sophy for years. The kind of hotel where there has been attention to detail and a sense of aesthetic vision, and yet it is low key, relaxed, and does not cost a fortune. It is incredible that we have found this in Chicago. The rooms are beautiful, with wonderful wooden floors, interesting art on the walls (art you actually want to look at), top quality products -from the teas offered in the room to the bath products. And the best part is the staff, they are polite, friendly, helpful, but also relaxed. Can’t wait to go back!

The property exudes cozy warmth and charm from the original artwork, the glass enclosed fireplace, and the chess set in the lobby for guests to enjoy. We particularly enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant and the selections were healthy and tasty. The room was clean and comfortable and our only complaint was the harsh industrial like toilet paper that seemed much more suitable to a public park than to a hotel of this caliber. We ended up purchasing our own for the duration of our stay.

What a fantastic hotel! The staff is amazing and so friendly! The hotel and rooms are beautiful! Comfortable bed, very clean room and bathroom, no complaints. We were there for several days and not once did we have issue. Great job!

This hotel is my absolute favorite place to stay when I’m in town, and I’ve stayed in A LOT of hotels. The price is ridiculously good for what you get. The rooms have record players (nice touch!), bathroom scales and a Nesspresso machine! I never drink coffee in the hotel room unless I’m here. The restaurant is good and very reasonably priced which is an anomaly for a Chicago-area hotel and the staff have always been very friendly and helpful. I wish I could give this place more than five stars because it’s truly a gem.

Everyone on staff is impeccable, day or night. Cannot say enough positive things about the hotel staff. Both my room and the floor were quiet, despite a family with a toddler and newborn two doors down. The fitness center was clean and well stocked with towels and complimentary water. Despite the hotel’s proximity to downtown in the midst of a three-year-long construction project in the city, the SOPHY is situated in a vibrant neighborhood that is a pleasure to patronize. I didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant because it wasn’t the most friendly for someone who mows on grass and calls it dinner. But there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options around the area. The only thing I would change is the shower not draining well. Everything else was perfect.
