Within easy walking distance of the bamboo forest and some beautiful gardens as well as other trails and a street-shopping experience. The best hotel experience I have ever had, in terms of cheerful and friendly service, and we had a beautiful room with our own hot tub ready to get into at any time. The breakfast was excellent with several courses of delicacies but more than anyone in the family could eat. Expensive, very, but definitely worth it. The opposite extreme from some of the accommodations when I am out with the mountain rescue group or on a cave rescue or on a federal disaster deployment.

Luxury hotel with great service. We sat down to check in. Nice free afternoon tea and morning breakfast. Private onsen is offered. Very comfortable and relaxing. Umbrellas were offered when it was raining. Bottle water was offered at the entrance.

We really enjoyed this hotel. Arashiyama is a beautiful area and the Suiran is perfectly located just off of the river. It is easy to walk to all of the tourist spots nearby. The hotel itself is really lovely and all of the staff are so nice and accommodating. I wish we could have spent more than two nights at the hotel. We had teppanyaki the first night and it was delicious and the second night we ate at the main restaurant. The champagne happy hour was a lot of fun. I appreciated the responsiveness of the hotel even before we arrived. Everything from check in to check out was seamless. We will definitely return.

Gorgeous hotel with zen gardens and large spacious rooms, near the major temple in the area and also right next to the bamboo forest. Beautiful river views and a tranquil quiet space to relax. All the popular sites in the area are nearby. Not an issue on the hotel part but keep in mind everything nearby is closed by 6 so food or other needs won't be available elsewhere
