When I am in Mexico City, I always stay at the Suites Coben hotel. The staff is nice and friendly and speaks English. The hotel rooms are large and comfortable, with full kitchens and very big beds. The rooms have a desk with electronic outlets that allow for comfortable workstations. Breakfast is free and available in the mornings. I like the location of the hotel in the Alvaro Obregon Colonia, which is walking distance from the historic centers of Coyoacán and San Angel. There are also at least 5 modern shopping malls within walking distance. The surrounding area is an upscale "old money" neighborhood, which is much more Mexican in character than "new money" neighborhoods that feel American. The view west facing windows shows a dramatic, uninterrupted view of Coyoacán with the tallest building in Mexico City. For the price, this is the best place to stay in Mexico City in my opinion. Just remember that this location is far from the historical zocolo of Mexico City, and would require a taxi ride there.
