SYN Boutique Hotel

This is definitely not a five star hotel. Whilst the hotel staff are very friendly and kind, the room itself is not at the standard you would expect for the price you pay. Firstly, the hotel is directly under a flight path, which means you can hear every single plane at all hours of the day. Also the room is not sound proof, and you can literally hear the conversations of the people in the rooms next to you. The room itself is somewhat overused, with scuffs on the floor and curling of the rug which makes for a trip hazard! Room service is also very slow - taking almost one hour for a dessert to be delivered. The highlights are the kind housekeeping team, the made to order breakfast menu (namely the cold pressed juices), the luxurious body wash and the packed breakfast.

TLDR: A great hotel to stay at, especially if you shop around for discounts. Great bed and good buffet breakfast. First off, SYN shares the same entrance as the Khum Phucome Hotel Chiang Mai. The SYN signage is eye level and can be easy to miss, but if you aim for the latter hotel, you'll get into the right entrance. Khum Phucome Hotel Chiang Mai parking lot staff weren't helpful at all, telling us to park on the street. Ignore them, SYN is straight in and to the right from the entrance. Once checked in, hotel staff can help you get to the parking garage. After check-in in the lobby, they'll guide you towards the bar to receive your welcome drink, one of several mocktails to choose from. The lobby is pleasant to look at and features a bar (that connects outside for a poolside bar) and restaurant where the breakfast buffet is served in the morning. There's also a small art gallery featuring local artists that fit with the style of the hotel. As for the rooms, I feel like I've seen variations of the same configuration in other hotels. BUT, the bed is amazing. It's a semi-firm to firm box spring with a 3 inch cushion on top. I love it, but sadly the owners get it manufactured for the hotel, I checked with the staff. Additionally, the king bed is really a super king, roughly 7 feet wide! Also, they keep an air purifier next to bed, so the room smells fresh and clean. Our room came with the tub (huge) and a walk in shower. Bath salt is provided for the tub, a nice touch. The shower is open, there is no door, so water will start to get all over the bathroom floor if you don't watch for that. I do find that design annoying, Id rather have a door and not worry about creating an obstacle to safely exiting the bathroom. All of the soaps smell great. My mother-in-law and wife both have very sensitive skin and even the lotion worked great on their skin. The breakfast buffet is great with lots of options. One of the standouts is they have a made-to-order menu of coffees, cold press juice, eggs and noodles. Get the omelette, it's as perfect as the best picture of a plain omelette you've ever seen. Cappuccino is also great, I found it to be better than Doi Chaang Coffee's, which is supposed to be top notch. Besides that, they have a free shuttle that runs to Nimman Rd for shopping and food. Depending on your hotel booking, you can also have your checkout at anytime! That's perfect when you have a latter flight out of CNX and can utilize their airport shuttle as well.
