Tabitabi Stay Higashiyama

As German tourists, we wanted to spend a few days in Japan in a typically Japanese stylish house. It definitely fulfilled this wish because it is very beautiful to look at. However, we would not use the house again for several reasons and would not recommend it. A few little things that bothered us a bit were that there was no dryer or clothes horse, that the stairs were dangerously steep, which is why some of the poles had already been torn out, and that you always had to watch out for the little crawling roommates. By the way, the kitchen has a stove, plates and a mini fridge, but no pots, cutlery or the like - so it's only there visually. But these things are individual and therefore not important for everyone. The real point that really made us consider switching to a hotel was the issue of comfort. You only have the option of sitting upright on the cushions at the table downstairs - of course there is no comfortable sofa. It looked exactly the same in bed. With the thin mats you practically lie on the hard floor and only have a small, thin cushion, which is why you can't lean on the wall behind you. So if, like us, you plan to explore the city and come home in the evening completely exhausted, you won't have anywhere comfortable to lie down/sit down. This has been quite difficult for us personally. As well as the air conditioning in the bedroom, which was old, loud and couldn't be adjusted correctly. We always woke up with body aches and not fully recovered. Our tip to the landlord - buy a few decent pillows for upstairs. replace the air conditioning and get a handle for the craggy stairs.
