The lake is tranquil and full of beautiful sceneries/scenes. You can catch an electric bus on the way around Xihu to save yourself tiredness and time and travel faster I recommend go on a boat sailed by a local to enjoy the beauty of the vast Westlake.

A walk around this lake transports you back to the period times. Tucked away from the hype and buzz of Hang Zhou, this place offers a much needed calm and break from the city. Highly recommended to visit.

East end of the lake facing the city is pretty crowded and may be initially off-putting due to the ruckus. Keep walking along the lake and once you reach the western part you begin to feel the serenity that all the ancient Chinese figures wrote about. There are a bunch of historic sites scattered around the lake - some are relatively simple but some are extensive and interesting. Coming here at night has a different charm: the lights on the boats and temples are beautiful and the stroll is much more peaceful; however all the sites will be closed for visit.
