The Grace House Chiangmai - Hostel

I really enjoyed my stay. The owner is very friendly, the neighborhood and street are charming. It’s a good value, it feels off the beaten path. I enjoyed feeling like I was closer to normal life here, than inside the wall. Minus one star bc of a few quirks. The windows are via the bathroom and ‘closet room. The other windows face the hallway which has a light on in the night for safety which did not disturb my sleep. I was with my mom whose mobility impaired and the tiles were hard for her to walk on. All in all, I would return to this humble and lovely stay. Thank you for having us.

This is a nice little hotel, close to the action, with a friendly staff. Small and quiet, and okay for a few days near the night market. I am not sure I would call it a bed and breakfast. There is a cafe in front with great food; but not really included in the stay. Room: room size is okay for one person, but on the smaller size. The bed was okay, with simple furniture. Had all I needed as a solo, but may be a little small for a couple. There was a small desk in the room, fridge, and hot pot. No closet area, but there was a small shelf with a hanging bar and a couple of hangers. The room did not have a window to the outside. There is a large window next to the doot, but looks out to the hall and across from another room. It is not likely it would be used as a window. Bathroom: Inside the room, there were two doors. One lead to a small room with a large screened window (covered) and a sink. The other door lead to a small toilet and shower room. The water was hot and pressure was okay; on the smaller side but functional. TV/Internet: The TV was okay, flat screen mounted on the wall. The standard Thai channels with few English stations. I could not use the HDMI port for a Firestick; not sure why, but unlike most hotels it was unusable. The internet was okay; speed was moderate, and I had only minimal problems working online and accessing the net. Location: This is where it shines. The location is great. It is close to the downtown night market and nightlife, just across the street and a block away. There are a couple of small restaurants and bars close by, with more starting a couple of blocks away. You can get to what is needed by walking easily, but the hotel is also set back a bit so it is a quiet escape. Facilities: budget hotel with all the basics. There is scooter parking; it did not appear that there was space for cars, but unsure. The hotel will take care of your laundry for a small fee, it was great, the the owner speaks English and is very nice and supportive. The rooms are somewhat close together, it is more like a hostel with private rooms. Still was quiet for the most part and I did not experience any problems in the couple of days I stayed. Overall it was a nice stay. I see this as a budget hotel in a good location, but few amenities beyond the basics. My rate was in the 500 Baht range, and really it was more about proximity to the area than the room itself.
