The Majestic Hotel

I had trouble dealing with parking here, the front desk attendant was not helpful and suggested I could just be patient and a spot would open up or go to the parking “on the left on Addison”. I thought I saw the garage but it had a gate and she didn’t mention anything about a gate so I then drove around the block for about 10 min then a spot did open in front of the hotel but it was not a legal spot. In a tow zone and in front of a hydrant I put my hazards on and ran inside, the attendant did not seem to care that I was parked illegally so maybe getting towed is not common. I was still unsure. She told me to go to the gate and it will automatically open. I pulled up to the gate and nothing, I pressed the button for assistance and nothing. I called her as a car pulled up behind me, and she said “it should just open, when you pull up to it” so I pulled up as close as I could and it did open. I thanked her but think the addition of the silver grate will say entrance on it in black letters and you have to pull up very close for the sensor to pick up your car. But that was all the assistance I got. I drove in no one was in the window and the parking spaces were very weird. The signage said to drive slow and honk when turning corners. I was so confused but thought if I kept driving the parking spaces would make sense in a bit. NOPE. Turns out it’s valet parking and I should have just waited at the entrance. Why the attendant did not explain any of this or why that information is not on their website or wasn’t given to me over the phone when I called multiple times I will never know. This was definitely the worst part of this experience. I usually train into Chicago and this experience at this hotel and their lack of instructions and guidance on parking really was unfortunate. Even worse I called ahead of time and asked a front desk associate if it would be easier to drive or train in and he suggested driving. But he was more friendly than the blonde lady so maybe his instructions would have been more thorough. The elevator to this hotel is super tiny! So if you have large bags or are not travelling solo you may need to take the stairs or just multiple trips. The parking valet garage is about a 3 min walk away so be mindful if you need to unload this information may not be relayed to you. The room was clean and the presentation of the room was nice. Just kind of disappointing service. Overall worth a stay her if you can deal with the car and parking situation.

This cute little hotel in the middle of Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood was perfect for a quick overnight. Nothing fancy here...just an extremely comfortable queen sized bed with lots of restaurants and bars nearby. Paid parking is available in another building, as street parking in this neighborhood is nonexistent.
