NOT recommended; not all as the pictures, pillows and wall was dirty and cold, heater outdated (from the 70s) representing a fire hazard. Refused to stay, save yourself the waste of time. Talked to reception who did not offer any solution.

I'm a solo traveller girl and the neighbourhoods did not feel safe at all to me. Very small room (I think way less than 10m²). Located at the last floor (5°) of a private building directly in Baixa-Chiado, the very city centre, this private room is directly in front of a toilet. It took me 10 mins to get how to open the door, and fortunately I got some help from two guests. In fact, in order to open the lock, u have to pull the door a lot, and turn the key in the opposite way you would normally do it... Moreover, the first day I had to take an ICE-COLD SHOWER, since hot water wasn't coming out of the showerhead. On the second day, it happened the same thing: so I decided to explain the situation to a lady who was working as a housekeeper, and she told me TO GO TO THE BATHROOM DOWNSTAIRS. Moreover, since I slept there, I have insect bites on all over my body. It was filthy, uncomfortable and surely not worth the money.

The rooms were clean and looked interesting. Each floor had a nice kitchen with everything we needed. And even more. Unfortunately, there was only one small bathroom for the whole floor (around 5 rooms)… that’s such a pity! :-/ Would be 5 stars if there were at least two restrooms…..

We booked a double room with double bed, dining space and balcony and were put in metal bunk beds in a room the size of a closet. You could nearly touch both walls standing with arms open in the middle of the room. Room also steaming hot and door wouldn't close properly. The treatment received from the manager when we tried to explain that was not what we paid for was horrific. They didn't offer any compensation, refused to change rooms and only offered us to take our luggage and leave. The bathroom was never clean, lots of hair on the shower drain that could make for a wig and the water wouldn't drain so it would all pool around your feet. It was gross. There is no elevator to the first floor so if you have heavy luggage, good luck. Overall experience was awful. I've stayed in student's hostels way better than this. Don't waste your time and money as they will treat you like they're doing you a favor to have you stay there.
