Very convenient to train stations, bus stops to get around. A lot of restaurants nearby and department store to shop. A nice bakery store is right next to the hotel. The set up of the room is great.

Best hotel I have stayed at in Japan. Service at reception is amazing. The rooms are very very clean and comfortable. I felt like I was the first one to sleep there. All the usual Japanese amenities are provided (slippers, PJs, toothbrush, razor, etc.) and there is a safe in the room. Hot water heater along with daily provided coffee and tea in the room is nice too. I recommend you pay a little more for the breakfast as it is very good and convenient. Plenty of options bother western and japanese foods. There is also a coffee machine with espresso during breakfast for no extra charge. A huge plus for me was the smoking room, as it’s difficult to find proper places to smoke in Kyoto. The restaurant for dinner was very good too with reasonable prices and excellent service.

3rd time staying at this hotel. Thus totally aware of the check out time which was 12 PM. The so called Front Desk Manager barged in to the room (knocked but not getting permission to come in) kinda kicking us out at 11.30 AM, while telling us that we were gonna be charged for ¥1,000 extra for late check out. Shame on you Front Desk Manager who was in charged on Dec 31st!!! Note to Royal Park Sanjo Kyoto Hotel, you guys should re-train your Front Desk Manager specifically who was in charged on Dec 31st morning. He was totally a bad asset in terms of customer service. You guys should & could do better!!! 😡😡😡 Reply to your comment: 1. Nobody called the room, so please don’t just give out lame excuses 2. No offense, basic manner. You can’t just walk in when you don’t get the permission to come in. That’s very basic!

Extremely rude manager in the lobby. The staff was very kind when I wanted to have an early check in, she said I could pay for 2 hours extra since I was 2.5 hours early. The manager next to her imposed a 3hour charge although we were 30min below the bracket. It’s really not about 1,000 yen but about knowing how to treat customers… she wouldn’t even look me in the eye. I was planning on extending my stay for a couple days but now I’m definitely not doing it. Detail on the room: no plug next to the bed which is super basic.

This was our second Royal Park Hotel stay, and like the one in Ginza, this one in Kyoto was excellent. The rooms were nice and without any signs of wear and tear. My view wasn't much, but that wasn't a factor in my excellent stay here. The main lobby staff were super friendly and polite. I felt welcomed and saw their willingness to ensure a positive experience for their guests. I was surprised by the included 5 was a decent breakfast buffet. They even make onigiris as they get depleted. The miso soup was wonderful while the chicken soup had depth! I kept going back to the pork belly curry. I typically don't like Japanese curry as it tends to be sweet, but not here. It was great! The evening free drink was also a pleasant surprise! The availability of coin laundry was beyond my expectations. We happily got some clothes clean! Finally, the location was excellent as it was near Pontocho Alley where you can find so many restaurants and near extensive shopping markets.
