This is a tale of two reviews. My wife and I spent a Saturday night and a Tuesday night at The Steward. Our room on Saturday night was amazing. It had a wonderful view of the pool and surrounding grounds. The room had a living room area and a separate bedroom that could be closed off from the rest of the area. We had a great balcony. The bathroom area had a sink in a separate area and a room with the toilet and shower. This is a great setup because of the privacy it offers. Our room on Saturday was nice but it had some issues. The sink/toilet/shower were all in one room. This wasn't bad, but it was not as nice as the first night. The bedroom could not be closed off from the living room. The room was hot when we arrived and never really cooled off. The outlet setup was a problem. There were insufficient places to plug electronic devices. One of the plugs also turned off when the switch was flipped. This resulted in an uncharged cell phone. That was a minor issue for the flight that day. One other minor issue was the self parking cost. The Marriott app said $20/night, but the hotel charged $30. I pointed this out to them and they said they would charge $20, but they charged the full $30. I would stay here again for sure, but I would push for the room type we had on Saturday night.

Pleasantly surprised how roomy, chic and elegant this place is! Our suite was facing the garden, loved waking up to a beautiful ambiance! Nicely decorated, quality coffee, modern interior, lovely lobby. Price is actually very reasonable for the room you get! If we are visiting Santa Barbara we would totally come back to enjoy the hotel! However the only downside is the food. We ordered chilaquiles and toast. Both were so plain and mediocre. We will be dining out and that’s fine since Santa Barbara has handful of fine coffee shops and restaurants.

This is a very clean and nice hotel. However, it's an old building and doesn't have an elevator (which is problematic if you have a baby with a stroller). Bathrooms have no fans... but wherever is renovated, it looks nice. We had a comfortable stay here and will consider it again in the future.

I had a traumatic experience at this hotel. I’ll start off by saying the hotel itself is very pretty and looks very new. However, I used the bathroom by the lobby and I believe I almost died due to carbon monoxide poisoning while I was in there. Just a few minutes after entering I felt sick in multiple ways, nauseous / dizzy / confused, so I remained there thinking I would eventually throw up and feel better. I began to sweat profusely (it’s January and when I walked in I was cold) so I figured I should get fresh air. I began to feel better upon doing so but I continued to get cherry red skin and breakout in blisters all over my arms. Bear in mind this was at 11am and I didn’t drink or eat anything yet that morning, this was not an allergic reaction and I have no allergies I’m aware of. I also noticed that they store all of their outdoor heaters and have tanks of propane gas outside of the bathroom. This was an abhorrent experience and I’ve never had anything like this happen to me before. Thankfully I recovered after being outside for the next few hours. I notified the staff of this and they claimed there are no issues and said they did their “due diligence.” The response was disappointing to say the least.

I recently stayed at a hotel that boasted a cozy and clean interior, creating a welcoming atmosphere right from the start. The service was commendable, with the staff being notably friendly and accommodating. However, a significant inconvenience was the absence of an elevator, despite the hotel being on the second floor. This made transporting luggage a bit challenging. Additionally, my room was next to the stairs, leading to a considerable amount of noise whenever other guests moved their luggage up and down. It's apparent that the hotel is a renovation of an old apartment, as some parts, especially the windows, clearly show their age. A notable issue was the heater; it was excessively noisy to the point of causing the floor to shake when in use. This discomfort forced me to turn it off during the night to get some sleep. While the interior is pleasant and the service friendly, these aspects of discomfort could be a drawback for some guests
