Beautifully appointed hotel, friendly staff who genuinely care about your experience. The library is a lovely place to relax and the bar intimate and stylish. We stayed in a gorgeous room with a deep bath and very comfy bed (#3). However... There was no door between the toilet and the rest of the room! It was round a corner, but still very much in the same space, meaning there was zero privacy. This definitely affected our stay in terms of practicality, and also seems like a strange design choice in what is otherwise a very romantic hotel. I am unsure if this is the case for all rooms, but would recommend checking the layout of the room if you plan to stay here.

We stayed in one of the apartments and from start to finish everything was excellent. A call a week before to see if we had any specific requirements. A warm welcome at the hotel reception and then escorted to the apartments in the next street. The apartments were spacious, well decorated, and comfortable. Yes, there is occasional early morning noise from the street below, but that is the potential downside of staying in the centre of town. Overall, it was an excellent experience and would definitely stay again.

Torel 1884 is literally the best hotel I have ever stayed at. The interiors were GORGEOUS, room was spacious and so comfortable. The staff was INCREDIBLE, taking care of our every need, giving restaurant recs and then calling to make us reservations, even folding clothes we had left on the floor in the room. The free breakfast was not your typical lame hotel buffet, but rather had so many delicious options and a different fresh-made fruit juice each day. The location was also perfect--super walkable to everything we wanted to visit. I would seriously return to Porto just to stay at Torel 1884!!!

We stayed here for 4 nights for my partners birthday. It was our first trip to Porto and this hotel and the staff made the trip. We were treated so kindly and it made the trip so much more special. We were upgraded on arrival and sent wine and a fruit plate to our room. The room itself was beautiful and the bed was so comfortable. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and were so welcoming. We only had the breakfast but I can say it was the best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. The location was ideal for getting around. The building itself is beautiful with a library and honesty bar on the top floor. We had drinks in the bar downstairs which is very stylish. The bar staff were so attentive and helpful with recommendations. We will definitely be back. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in Porto. We enjoyed the restaurant and the staff - everyone was amazing! Definitely recommend making reservations for the restaurant. Only a couple of things that were of annoyance. I was awoken by banging noises every morning between 5-11am - the room next door was under construction. The free water they provide tasted the same as tap water..and also had the pink mildew around the rim of the bottle (they reuse the bottle but clearly did not clean it). I was disappointed to find out the hotel I booked was in a different building - I booked through Capital One travel portal and it never mentioned a separate building so it’s not on Torel 1884 but Capital One. Unfortunately they couldn’t do anything for me. It just would’ve nice to know from the hotel that the room would be in a different building, before we got there. I will say that the location of where we ended up was nice. Again, we had a good time overall. We would recommend the hotel to others but only if they were staying in the main building.
