Excellent hotel. First time in Rwanda and I could not recommend a better place to stay. Great location, in walking distance to a shopping area. Helpful staff and a rooftop bar for enjoying the night whenever you are not fancying going out for dinner.

My recent visit to Ubumwe Grand Hotel in Kigali was nothing short of spectacular. The standout feature of this establishment is undoubtedly the rooftop, which offers the most breathtaking view of the city. From the moment I set foot on that rooftop, I was captivated by the panoramic vistas of Kigali's skyline. The service at Ubumwe Grand Hotel was equally impressive. The staff was attentive, friendly, and highly professional. They went above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left, I felt genuinely cared for. What makes this place truly exceptional is the seamless combination of that incredible rooftop view and the great service. Ubumwe grande hotel is not really so grand. My room did not have air-conditioning for the entire 7 days I was there and all they offered me was a free ride for the inconvenience. 76 (25) degrees was the coldest the room got. They also charged me $5 for the minibar and I did not touch anything in the fridge. And then it took about 20 minutes on the phone with somebody to remove the charge. The breakfast is pretty good. The difference in price to the Marriott is not that much and the Marriott hotel in Kigali is 10,000 times nicer and better. Definitely try to get a room at the Marriott if possible instead. It is actually ridiculously insane how much nicer the Marriott hotel is- inside and outside.
