Universal Family Hotel

Location: The hotel is in “Universal Citywalk Osaka.” It was walking distance from many food options, Universal Studios Japan, and the train station. I felt very safe with my family in this area. Food/Shopping: While there are many food options nearby, there aren’t many shopping places. There was a Gap and a few Universal Studios Stores but no traditional Japanese items nearby. Prices were ok. Slightly cheaper than US prices for food. The hotel: Easy check in. It was clean and staff were friendly. Breakfast was the same menu everyday. It was a buffet with Western and Japanese options. There was a smoking room on the first floor. The rooms were just the right size to fit a family of four just fine. Down side is if you’re planning on staying a while, there isn’t a laundry facility nearby. You have to take the train to another area. This was a big deal for me so I can’t give this hotel 5 stars.

Our main objective of our 2 night stay in Osaka was Universal studios. If this is your objective too, this is the place to stay. PROS: - less than 5 minute walk from USJ - convenient store literally outside the hotel+ many other USJ stores and restaurants that open late - easy bag drop facility for arriving early or leaving late -one of cheaper nice options for USJ stay (We love any extra sleep we can get, but we also want to get to USJ early) CONS: - hotel is a little bit smallish (standard japan sized room) -location not so great if you are doing other things other than USJ in Osaka - Although not her fault, checking in after a long day of exploring Osaka, they struggled with the check-in process Overall: I would recommend this hotel if your main reason for staying in Osaka is for USJ. P.S. USJ is awesome and I love rollercoasters :)
