We stayed in Hotel Royal in June this year as part of a holiday package for the weekend. Not only was the hotel ideally situated, it had ample private parking, which is key for city visitors on a driving holiday. Hotel was simply elegant with staff that were attentive, efficient and considered going the extra mile as standard. Rooms were spacious and immaculately clean, well provided for and comfortable. There is no restaurant but a nearby establishment was recommended and, much to our delight, absolutely did not disappoint.

Great location near to all of the key sights in Florence. The room was spectacular with high ceiling and private terrace for eating breakfast. the breakfast was good with lots of choice. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean with lovely shower. A minibar was very welcome with beers and water. The price was reasonable for the location and standard of accommodation. It would be lovely if you had glasses instead of paper cups in the room. The coffee was gold blend sachets and no biscuits. These little things make all the difference. The hotel was very helpful in the booking process and advising on taxis. Recommended.

Rented this hotel for 4 nights at greater expense than others closer to the city centre solely for the use of the pool. It's already ridiculous that they charge extra per day for pool use, but worse that they emptied the pool on the day of arrival. Not too much of a problem as they told us it would be ready again the next afternoon; however, the timeline was continuously pushed back. We were told multiple times - it will be ready in a few hours, tomorrow morning, the next afternoon etc etc. When we finally got fed up and tried to cancel, staff were unhelpful and quite rude. We were told that nothing could be done until the manager was in the next day - unfortunately she wasn't in til 3pm so it was again too late to cancel the following night. No apologies but plenty of attitude from staff. Even lied to our booking mediator about what they had offered for compensation, and from our conversations with other guests, others had similar experiences. Things happen that are out of the hotels control, but staff need to be upfront and honest to guests about how their stay will be affected, not lie to their faces. Much better training required to respond appropriately to complaints. Rooms are basic for the price and the breakfast was not up to 4* standard. Only benefit is that it's about 10 minutes walk into town but there are much better looking places that are closer - don't waste your time here.

It was really nice and fun to stay there 5 nights. Private park place, swimming pool, breakfast, fascinating location of hotel, very kind staff from restaurant to the reception. It takes about 10-15 min to walk to Duomo, Uffizi, Academia etc. The pool, the room, the restaurant were very clean. There are Sky channels on TV, so as i could watch Formula 1 on weekend, although it was not a must. Florence is in anyway beautiful, we could complete this beauty by staying in this historic Hotel. We wished we could have more time to stay there. Thanks!
