Villa Unggul

Pros: Lovely big swimming pool. Beach front location within 15 mins walking to the main strip of bars/restaurants but far enough away from the party noise. Rooms are spacious. Good happy hour drinks reasonably priced. Good enough accommodation for a low budget. Cons: Swimming pool beds and beach beds are rented out to the public so not always available. Very close to the mosque so you can hear the call to prayer at 4.30am (this will be the same for any hotel located in a good central place so take your ear plugs). Very basic room, tired and no hot water in the evenings on some nights. Cockroaches in our room. Breakfast was very basic with very little option for vegan- not even any soya milk. When we ask the staff they said none coming to the island even though we saw it in every shop. Staff were a little unprofessional and not super friendly like Bali but I think this is across the board for Gili T. Our check in was very quick, no warm welcome or any talk and no offer to help us two girls to our room with luggage. Overall I think if you’re looking for a low budget accommodation and don’t have high expectations then this will be fine.

This is the 3rd time we've been back to Villa Unggul. If you're coming to Gili T for a family or couples holiday then this is the perfect place for you. It's on the main strip, but far away enough from the entertainment area that you won't hear the music from the nightclubs. The staff here work very hard and always do their best to keep the customer happy and build rapport. Kindness goes a long way with these people so be kind & understanding and they will really look after you. Special shout out to our breakfast server, Miftah or as I called him “Happy Feet” (due to his happy-face socks) was always keeping the positive energy high and greeting us warmly. All the while paying special attention to my pregnant wife's needs and paying her compliments. Very sweet guy, thanks again bro! Noteworthy items: 1. Pool is always kept clean and fresh. 2. Price and value for money is spot on. 3. Located on the best part of the beach; turtles feet away from the shore and free beach chairs with complimentary beach towels to use all day. 4. Rooms are nice, cleaned daily and are large in size, however the AC is a bit weak and struggled to keep the room at a cool level. We had to sleep without sheets. Guys, please, time to upgrade these!! 5. The resort is nicely appointed with beautiful flowers and plants making it look lovely. However, some age is showing in the main building, cracks here and there, some repairs and fresh paint would go a long way to spruce up the resort. 6. Wifi in the rooms is a bit weak, however, my wife found out the wifi in the restaurant next to the pool was high speed and more than adequate for her teams meetings. Big plus! 7. Breakfast included with your stay - set menu is average in quality but just enough to start your day. All in all, we had a wonderful stay. Some small investment required from the owners, otherwise.. Dont hesitate and book your stay, you can thank me later 😉 Thanks again to the hard working staff who made our stay perfect 👌
