I had a wonderful stay at Weligama Bay Resort. The hotel is located on a beautiful beachfront and the views from the rooms are stunning. The rooms are spacious and clean, and some of the bungalows have been recently renovated. The food was excellent and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The location is the best part of the resort, as it is situated right on the beach, which is the most suitable for surfing in all of Sri Lanka. You can watch the waves for hours from the terrace, which is directly on the beach and has beautiful fabric sunshades. They are visually appealing and practical, as they protect guests' heads from the sun while they watch the skilled surfers.

Very unfriendly front office staff, took 40 minutes to check us in & on top, argumentative. They still check some files to check you in & will give you a feel of 80s Era. Special advise for my Indian friends- no hand shower in bathroom!! Make your choice wisely!

* Old rooms, a bit out- dated, no charm at all. Nothing romantic. * Low quality of breakfast, missing healthy options and missing natural ingredients such as mango and avocado. Breakfast felt like owner wants to save money on costs. * Staff and team amazingly friendly and service minded. * Kids friendly and great place for kids. * Overpriced for what hotel delivers. * Quick on charging extra but not giving the extra.

We had a fantastic time at the Weligama Bay Resort, a small boutique hotel next to the Marriott in Weligama. I have visited Sri Lanka many times and typically stay in larger hotels. We chose the Weligama Bay resort because my husband and daughter surf and the hotel is on a beautiful beach. The room was large and clean. The beds were extremely comfortable. The restaurant was excellent and served a wide variety of Sri Lankan and Western foods. We appreciated the service at the restaurant particularly the attention that Sungath paid us to make sure we had what we needed. My husband and daughter were able to rent boards every day from the hotel and go surfing in the early morning and the evening. The beach is beautiful and the water relatively shallow so an excellent place for kids to learn surfing. We could not be happier about our decision to spend the first week of our holiday at the Weligama Bay resort.
