My family and I recently stayed at the Whitney Peak Hotel in Reno, Nevada, for one night, and our experience was a mix of positives and considerations. Starting with the less favorable aspects, the front door doesn't open automatically, making it a bit challenging when maneuvering luggage. Additionally, the parking is a block away in a garage, requiring a walk in the weather, which might pose difficulties, especially during winter. Late check-out was declined, citing management policy. The absence of bathroom fans left the space humid after showers, and there were limited electrical outlets in the room. On the positive side, the staff exhibited exceptional friendliness and helpfulness. The in-house restaurant served a fantastic breakfast with generous portions and excellent service. A notable advantage is the hotel's pet-friendly policy, a significant plus for those traveling with furry companions. Conveniently located across the street from major casino hotels, Whitney Peak Hotel offers a smoke-free environment, a considerable benefit for non-smoking guests. Moreover, the hotel boasts an amazing rock climbing area on the second floor, providing an exciting recreational option. Additionally, there is a great gym/workout area, adding to the overall appeal for fitness enthusiasts. Overall, while there are a few considerations, the friendly staff, delicious breakfast, pet-friendly policy, strategic location, and exciting recreational amenities make Whitney Peak Hotel a noteworthy spot for a stay in Reno.

They could definitely benefit from a different type of front door that doesn't require guests to push it open. It can be a real struggle for visitors, especially those with their hands full or when the weather is rough. The lobby is stunning. The front desk manager, a very considerate and friendly gentleman, is a standout. However, the standard of the rooms doesn't quite match the elegance of the lobby. While the rooms are decently designed with nice features like a comfortable single couch, a functional office desk, and a chair, the spring bed tends to be loud and not the most comfortable. Also, there seems to be a recurring issue with the shower drains being clogged with the previous guest's hair in every new room I checked-in. The hotel always sends someone to fix it instantly. Nevertheless, the bathrooms themselves are clean and pleasant. I love that this hotel is pet friendly. It's delightful to bump into different people and dogs everyday. The gym is equipped with decent exercise machines, but it's very dimly lit. I had an unpleasant experience with their breakfast when six of my co-workers and I suffered from food poisoning. I've heard from others that they've since resolved this issue, although there was no apology offered to any of us. On a more positive note, one of my best experiences was the New Year's Eve dinner at WP. They offered a fantastic dinner selection, and their cocktail options were impressive. The floor staff consistently provided excellent service and were very friendly. Overall, WP is a decent hotel, but it has some issues that could be improved.

The location is great and close to everything, but we had issues with our room and couldn't be placed elsewhere because they were sold out. We requested a mountain view months in advance, but ended up with a city view room. It was fine and not the end of the world. Additionally, our bath tub's glazing had been chipped off from use of prior guests and if you weren't careful, it was sharp on the bottom of our feet. We ended up wearing cushion flip flops in the shower as an extra precaution to protect our feet. The room was 5/100 clean as the pillows had mascara marks all over them and the towels had blood stains (housekeeping replaced the mascara pillows and we all shared the one clean towel we had). Luckily, our air conditioning worked fine and I loved the mirror in the bathroom, the slippers, and the robes. Plenty of outlets too. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed it after the pillows had been replaced. The club level floor is good for snacks, but you're better off doing the Bed and Breakfast deal because that was wonderful for our family. The restaurant is very nice and the staff are fantastic; we loved the bartenders. Checking in and out was fine. You don't need the club level, but I highly recommend the bed and breakfast option because the food was great.

The building and location were beautiful, but the staff and overall experience were lacking. We attended a function in one of the conference rooms that was catered by the hotel staff. The bartender was nice but short poured everything and also made multiple mistakes on our order. The catering staff almost pestered us offering the same trays of apps over and over. The valet parking staff did not know how to drive a manual and had to find someone who could. When the event was over, they were so busy they gave us our ticket to go pick up our vehicle ourselves, and then gave us incorrect directions to get into the parking garage, and the wrong floor (they said it was on the 4th floor but it was on the ground level.) The food was mediocre at best, and there were very few items to choose from on the buffet. Also the staff recommended the corn bread for a gluten-free option (corn bread is made with wheat flour.) Had I been less informed I could have gotten very ill. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and had a pretty good experience, but we would NOT book a function here in the future.
