YOUNIQ Gdansk - Campus Accommodation

I have been living in Milestone for a year now and, while there are a few positive points about this dorm, there are also several negative ones that upcoming tenants should be aware of before chosing to stay here. Let me start with the positives: as a tenant, you have access to a versatile infrastructure with laundry room, cinema room, game room with board games and playstation, a small gym with a few weights, machines and cardio equipment, a large common kitchen with an oven, and a silence room for studying. Furthermore, there is always someone at the reception in case you need anything, your orders arrive directly to the reception so it is really practical, and if there are any problems in your room there is a person taking care of any maintenance needed. Now for the bad part. First of all, the rooms are not equipped with an extractor hood. Consequently, it is frequent (sometimes several times per day, even in the middle of the night) for the fire alarm to ring mistakenly. In the eventuality of a real emergency in the building, the evacuation will take much longer than expected/necessary because the tenants need to confirm if the alarm is legit or just another of the several false alarms that happen on a daily basis. Furthermore, when the alarm rings during the night (which happens approximately on a weekly basis), the sound of the alarm is loud enough to startle whoever is asleep, which can cause you to be severely stressed and eventually compromise your capabilities for studying and working the following day. Secondly, and according to other reviews on Google this seems to be a problem that has been ongoing for several years, the silence hours are not at all respected. Not only during the weekends (friday and saturday) but also during the week (especially on wednesdays), several tenants make noise during the whole night and until early morning, and the noise is so loud that it can be heard not only across rooms but even through different floors. We often inform the security guards present at the building about the issue and they try to contact those who are making noise and ask them to stop, but such a solution is often just temporary and noise eventually resumes either from the same or a different room. Several tenants also disrespect the rules that require them to clean after themselves in the common areas, like the common kitchen, and it is frequent to see dirty dishes and kitchenware unattended. Related to this last point, it is also quite common for the tenants to remove the items from the common kitchen and bring them to their own rooms, as to avoid buying some for themselves. Regarding the second point above, the management has stated several times that they have imposed sanctions on those who violate the silence and cleaning rules. However, I have been living here for a year and I do not see any improvement, which seems to indicate that the management has been quite unsuccessful in dealing with these issues. Furthermore, this dorm is relatively expensive in comparison with other options, and thus the families of the students staying at this place certainly have the amount of money necessary to pay for the fines received (if any). This seems to indicate that this is a situation of "punishable by a fine" being effectively "legal for a price", and until more severe consequences for the infractors are under place, one should not expect any improvements. Summarizing, if you prefer to stay up late regularly and party frequently, this might be the place for you, although I recommend staying aware of the fire alarm problem. On the other hand, if you are more of an early bird and value your sleep quality, I do not recommend staying at Milestone Gdansk.

I am writing a bit late after one year, but really with all my heart, i would like to give 5 stars to YOUNIQ. They treated us very well. very supportive staff specially Natalia and her colleague, she was the assistant I believe. One of the best private dormitories with high quality furniture and good equipment. Well planned rooms for fun, study, movie theatre. I liked my stay for one year and would like to recommend whoever wants to stay there. :)
