It’s a cheap hotel, and for one night, we just need somewhere to rest our heads. But….if this place doesn’t upgrade its facilities and have at least a face lift, it will get left behind. TV has no sound, not sure why. Silicone missing in the bathroom, and the tiles need a good deep clean. The roller blind is covered in something that I don’t wish to think about. A massive crack in the wall behind bed that runs to the wall and down, and stains and chips all over the 80’s style furniture. The hallway, walking in, has been patched with plaster. But clearly that’s all they felt like doing, and not paint. For one night, fine, but we wouldn’t come again.

Stumbled upon this hotel while yet without a place to stay, and it being late in the evening. The staff member at the reception was very friendly and accomodating, providing a suitable room at a great price. I also benefitted from their general dining recommendations, especially being later in the evening. Room was perfect for my one night stay, and I didn’t sense it was missing anything. Thank you YTI Garden Hotel !

Location is just perfect: in the heart of CBD. Room has everything you need: bed, hot water, air-conditioning, fridge, stove, cattle, iron, hair- dryer, fresh towels.

I booked for 3 nights late November at short notice and cannot recommend this place to anybody. The lift looks half bashed in, hall carpets are disgusting, fire exit stairs piled with bags of washing. Bed linen was stained and old, like the upholstered chairs. I killed 8 cockroaches within the first few hours and woke the first morning with about 15 bed bug bites. I complained at reception and was given another room, then offered full reimbursement. I then received notification online that my booking had been "cancelled". I found a bug in the bed of my newly allocated room, and promptly moved to another bug and roach-free hotel. I had to spend some hours washing and drying everything at high temperatures, and one month later, painful welts have reappeared where I was bitten. I doubt that anything was done by management to address these problems, and find it hard to believe that they have 3 star status.

Was central to where wanted to go in Melbourne, rooms aren't fantastic as they are ex student accommodation. Bathroom could do with better set up as water from shower flows out of recess and over floor. Single ply loo paper is cheap n nasty. Some hand soap for washing hands would be great. If all you want is somewhere to lay your head at the end of the day, then may just be enough, just think for the money it could have been bettet
