The Umroi Airport in Shillong (IATA: SHL) is located 30 km from the city centre. It is a small civilian airport and it commenced operations in the mid-70s.

The domestic airport has a single terminal with one boarding gate that can handle 100 passengers at a time. The terminal is spread over 5,900 sq m with two security counters and six check-in counters.

The airport is connected to several Indian cities, including New Delhi, Kolkata, Dibrugarh, Imphal, Silchar, Agartala, and Guwahati. The airport also offers several amenities like free wheelchairs and luggage trolleys, a childcare room, a lost and found counter, an X-ray baggage screening facility etc.

There is also an annual international flight service for Haj pilgrims.

Aurangabad is a city in Maharashtra named after the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The city got its name when Aurangzeb declared it his headquarters when he was Viceroy of the Deccan. Ajanta Caves

Ajanta Caves, located 101 km from Aurangabad town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They are a group of 30 caves dating back from the 1st century BCE to the 7th century CE, and depict Buddhist scriptures, paintings, and sculptures. The carvings are believed to have been made by Buddhist monks using chisels and hammers. The carvings tell stories from the Jataka Tales and depict scenes from Buddhist culture.

Grishneshwar Temple

Grishneshwar Temple is located 1.6 km from Ellora Caves and 32.7 km northwest of Aurangabad city. It is also called Ghrneshwar or Ghushmeshwar Temple. This 18th-century temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and attracts many tourists as it is an important pilgrimage destination.
