Shillong Airport (IATA Code:SHL), also known as the Umroi Airport, is around 30 km from Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya. Initially developed in the 1960s, the airport became operational in the1970s and is at an elevation of about 2908 ft above sea level. It is jointly operated by the Airport Authority of India and the Indian Air Force. The domestic terminal of the airport is spread across 5900 sq. m. and can handle 100 passengers at one particular time.
