About Bagdogra

Bagdogra is a hill station situated about 90 Km from Darjeeling, sitting at the foothills of the Himalayas. It is a region with abundant greenery, lakes, mountains, and breathtaking scenic views. It is appropriate for a perfect vacation in the north-eastern part of India with less explored tourist places spread all around. July to February is the ideal time for the visit as during this time, the hill station will be covered in lush greenery and a cool breeze. Bagdogra falls in the region where tea plantations are in abundance. During the early 20th century, the tea plantations were flourishing in Darjeeling which increased the demand for labourers. So, many tribes started to migrate and settle around the region, including in Bagdogra. Because of this, the culture here is a combination of Buddhist, Catholic, and Hindu beliefs. This amazing diversity is visible in the cuisine and traditions. This cultural amalgamation is also reflected in the various festivals celebrated here, like Kali Puja, Durga Puja, Gangasagar Mela, and Kenduli Mela. The Tibetan New Year, also known as Naba Barsho, is celebrated in Bagdogra. Bengali is the most constant language spoken here, but apart from this, the locals also speak English, Assamese, Tibetan, Nepali, Hindi and Bihari.
