Golghar or roundhouse is located in Patna in the state of Bihar. It was built in the year 1786. The building was constructed under the guidance of Captain John Garstin. It was built to deal with a famine or food crisis. The Golghar was used to store grains and served as a warehouse during British rule. It was, however, never filled to its full capacity. It is said that the doors of the granary would not open if it was filled to the top.
