Warangal, previously known as Orugallu, which translates to ‘one stone’, was ruled by the Kakatiya Dynasty. From the 12th through the 14th centuries, the Kakatiya Dynasty ruled over a Shaivite Kingdom with Warangal as its capital. Durga Kund is located near Durga Temple and was established in the 18th century to honour Goddess Durga. It is built in the North Indian architectural style and has multi-tiered Shikhara (towers). On the temple's right side lies the Durga Kund, a gorgeous pond. According to legend, the Goddess Durga statue at the temple emerged on its own. This temple attracts a considerable number of Hindu pilgrims during Navratri. The temple is located on the city's southern outskirts, away from the ghats.
The prominence of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple is further enhanced because it is mentioned in various holy scriptures. Moreover, the temple's exterior is embellished with beautiful sculptures that give the structure a celestial appearance. Aside from that, the temple has several smaller temples, including those dedicated to Kaal Bhairav, Vishnu, Virupaksh Gauri, Vinayaka, and Avimukteshwara.
This ghat is of utmost significance to the Hindus, being the main cremation ghat in the city. According to folklore, Devi Parvati's earring dropped on this ghat's exact location when she and Lord Shiva arrived. If you're in Varanasi, you should visit this incredibly historic region.
