Why five stars? Because you can find something here that is rarely found anywhere else in the world (and unfortunately also in Kerala): Peace and quiet! As the road is several metres below, you practically never hear it. However, the prerequisite is that you rent both halves of one cottage, as they are somewhat noisy... The guided tour through the cardamom plantations and neighbouring forests is highly recommended, the guide was extremely nice and had a lot of knowledge to share. The restaurant is not bad, the staff are extremely courteous and friendly and go out of their way to fulfil the guests' wishes! However, the prices are extremely high by Indian standards, you feel a bit ripped off. One person pays about as much at the buffet in the evening as four would pay in a restaurant in Munnar... but by European standards it is still cheap. You have to/may bring your own alcohol, as almost everywhere in India it is not offered in the restaurant.

This property is located in a 120 acre cardamom plantation. The rooms are huge and very well maintained and have a colonial feel. The location is surrounded by forests and is very quiet. The food they serve is great. They have a wide selection available and everything we ordered tasted amazing and the quantity was good too. Would highly recommend this place.

We were a group of 6 with 2 kids and booked a 3 bedroom villa. The location is great, it's a big plantation with multiple villas. The 3 bedroom one is little isolated and provides more privacy compared to the 2 bedroom ones. The place is always windy and filled with different sounds of nature (birds, insects etc). The villa is very spacious with a hall, kitchen and three bedrooms out of which only one is having an attached toilet. There is a common toilet also. The hospitality was great and food was served in the villa for lunch and dinner. The menu is great but everything is a bit costly and tasted average. The free breakfast provided was really below average with very less options. Overall it's a value for money property.

We absolutely loved staying at Ambady Estate so much so we didn't want to leave from there. Their cottages are very spacious, luxurious, and nicely setup. What really added to adventure was the cardamom plantations and hiking through it. We got such a personalised service that really added to the whole experience. Their food is really homely and delicious. Their breakfast was symptoms and delicious. The staff is very kind and friendly.
