We stayed at the Hotel Ganga Monastery for a day during Dev Diwali and our experience was amazing. This hotel is located between Assi Ghat and Ravidas Ghat so the view of Ganga is startling. Also, the aura is too serene to handle. The room was super neat. Plus, it was spacious and comfortable. The owner and the staff are incredibly cordial. They made sure to take care of our luggage due to early check-in while we had to explore the Ghats. Even after checking out, they took great care of our belongings when we went out for lunch as we had to leave till evening. They allowed us to sit at the hotel till then and gave us a spare room key to freshen up and rest without charging even a penny extra. Not all the hotels go above and beyond to ensure the best hospitality to their guests but Hotel Ganga Monastery did without any obligation.

The rooms don’t look as good as in the pictures. The first night we were given a twin room. We looked at the more expensive rooms to see if we wanted to upgrade but they weren’t much better. They charged us 1000 for small bag of laundry. There is no choice for breakfast, just omelette & toast (it tastes good but there are nice cafes around to try). The server did not understand ‘water’ or ‘pani’. The main older man at reception was nice, calm & accommodating. If they put more effort in it could be a much nicer hotel. The younger man said it was not possible to give me change which I don’t think is true. The location is a bit far from the main ghat/cremation point but I thought it was really peaceful & worth staying in that area then going into the busier areas.

Bad experience and feeling. We asked for laundry service and they asked us way too much money. We bargained (!!!) until half the price which was still a lot. They gave us a room 2 meters from the hotel reception desk which we declined after a 24 hour train ride. Eating diner was not possible at 21:30. First he did not want to change the room but we persisted. The room was small but okay. In the morning we asked for breakfast which was included. He said they started serving from 9:00 (!) There was no menu. We received a super small omelette, butter and 2 toasts. The dining room was not cleaned and dirty.

This hotel is nice, it has clean rooms, great views and walking distance with Shri Rabi Das ghat. From this ghat one can avail the Cruz tour for 1.5 hours where all the ghats of Benaras can be experienced from the Ganges. It is beautiful and during evening time, one can enjoy the light n sound show at the Kashi Vishwanath ghat for a while. Evening Arti visuals are magical from the Cruz. But, pre booking is suggested to avoid last minute rush at the Cruz. The hotel is very near to Assi Ghat and can be reached by walk. Rickshaw and toto s are also available. The only thing they need to improve the quality of food here, also rates are high compared to the others. Services are good, but can be improved. Overall we had a good stay here!
