Hotel Kaner Retreat

Kaner retreat is a “one of a kind” experience, we visited during Dussehra vacations (Late October). With few fellow tourists occupying few rooms the retreat was mostly vacant. The idea of botanical retreat in a location like that, is interesting ….lots to learn about the flora and local cultural beliefs and practices ! The food is fine, but the trip to Olive farm and visit to Khichan lake was unremarkable It is heart breaking to watch the poorly managed Khichan bird sanctuary due to government and local panchayat apathy. The retreat definitely may grow into an aspirational destination in years to come….. but like any ambitious project will take time to fully mature. Consider a visit preferably when the retreat plans for events (like new years etc) giving a chance to a more wholesome experience

Where to start... this property is absolutely stunning - by far the most serene location I have ever stayed at. The land the resort is situated on is magical & the resort is very well thought out with a great deal of attention to detail throughout. The food is a 10/10 - very obviously made not only from fresh ingredients & skill but clearly with love also. I have visited India many times but the food served at Kaner is by far the best I have ever had here or abroad - and I love the fact that dishes containing fresh (unprocessed) fruit and vegetables are widely featured on the menu. The room itself is an extension of the resort, again a well thought out space which has been beautifully & comfortably decorated. The bathroom is extremely spacious with modern features and a mirror which spans an entire wall. Because there's so much I'd like to cover I'm going to address some items in point form below: Bed: gorgeous, comfortable firm mattress and good pillows  = fantastic sleep Lounge Area: beautiful, comfortable, practical  = nice indoor relaxing / coffee spot Kitchenette: Tea / Coffee prep area = small practical concealed space Heat / Cooling = Available - we even received hot water bottles! Bathroom: Huge shower with nice products & good water pressure, large basin, western style facilities Private Courtyard: Private oasis with plenty of seating. You can close your gate or leave it open to stay connected to the space beyond ** Light Filled with with huge windows ** Beautifully & Thoughtfully Designed ** Drinking water provided in bathroom, kitchenette & courtyard ** Nook with shelf, hanging rail & floor space for luggage ** Ample power-points, lighting options, mirrors ** We are a couple with one child age 8 - the space was perfect for us ** Hosts & staff are a standout - good luck finding better hospitality elsewhere Leaving Kaner there is only one thing I am terribly sad about though - the Palak Paneer which is a favourite of mine, was so incredibly amazing that I will never be able to order this dish again anywhere else as it will not live up to my expectations. I will go as far as saying, that I had not had the real deal ever until eating Palak Paneer at Kaner - simply mouthwatering. Special thank you to Sapna & Sanvi for making our stay joyful.
