Adina Serviced Apartments Vienna

I chose this apartment hotel for my trip in Vienna out of two reasons: First, I am very satisfied with my stay at Adina last time in Sydney. Second, it is one of the few hotels/apartments that provide somewhere to cook (or at least a microwave), while at the same time a solo traveler could book. I also want to have more privacy, so I didn't choose a hostel with shared kitchen. Before booking, it seemed everything looked perfect, but at the end, I just found it to be average. The things there were confusing to me and I had to explore them all by myself. The staff were nice and they did explain to me something at the time of check-in, like that the location of the supermarket and its closure on Sundays, but very often when I was downstairs looking for help, there was only one staff who was busy discussing with other customers, and I was too embarrassed to interrupt them, end up having to explore things myself. One example was as follow: Before booking the hotel, I saw some rooms were equipped with eating utensil (bowls, spoons and forks), but I didn't find any in my room. This was already disappointing as I thought only people with the need to cook had to borrow pots from the staff, and my previous stay in Sydney had everything ready. When I looked for a bowl by myself from a shelf while the staff was busy talking to others, I couldn't find one. I really don't want to interrupt the staff, so I could only ask them the next day, and they showed me several bowls in the same shelf, which means there wasn't any bowl in public area yesterday. I think if you want to let customers serve themselves, you could either provide enough utensil in the public area with sign stating that customers could borrow them, or simply provide them in every room. Other things including laundry service and room cleaning were also confusing, especially the room cleaning, which I didn't even have the service the entire time I was staying. No one was giving me instructions on that either orally or in room, even during my check-in. And when I got down in laundry room, again you would have to explore how it work yourself. It is of very low efficiency if every time I have to ask staff for all the basic services. Even having a simple menu at room telling you how to get services reserved or do the work by your own would be better, so that customers didn't always have to go downstairs and ask. As for the room, it's okay, but it always felt a bit lacking. The ceiling was yellowish, and there's only a bottle of soap in bathroom. I assumed that soap (Seife) was also for bathing, but still it would be better to provide separate shampoo and body wash. Now are the Good things: I didn't hear much noise as I stayed on 9/F. Microwave and fridge were also functioning well, so I saved much money on breakfast and dinner. Bed was comfortable. The location was very convenient that you could get to the Hauptbahnhof in 5 min, and Hauptbahnhof provided a lot of food options. Overall it's just average. If it was a hotel not by the name of Adina, I would still think it's fine and of great value. But this serviced apartments just didn't live up to the name of Adina. Of course, the Sydney one was more costly and maybe things work differently in two cities. It's fine that Vienna Adina apartments didn't have luxurious facilities just like the Sydney one, but still it could work harder on providing more guidance and assistance to customers. I think there were other hotels or hostels that were better. Unless you really want to enjoy a huge room or want to have your private kitchen during your trip, don't book this hotel. (Also one more thing to add: I think they could emphasize that nearby there's another Adina hotel, as when I googled Adina apartments, the result was the Belvedere one and I approached the wrong hotel.)

Was actually thinking I booked the actual Adina hotel, but this is the self service low cost version of Adina and not at all comparable to the Adina standards... ( no coffemachine in the room, overall a bit dirty, no bar, no real reception, no tableware in the room, you have to ask some service staff downstairs to pick it off, no ironing possible in the room, the only iron of this hotel is somewhere hidden in the basement...) Also, and the worst of all, there was one lady at the reception who was not at all helpful but accused me of not having booked correctly and that all if this was actually communicated beforehand. No it was not! If I knew I wouldn't have booked for this price. This is simply a rip off for people who book via the Adina site and think they get the actual one. Next time if I want a good standard but lover price, I rather choose Adagio. And if there is a good offer there is still the wonderful Zoku near prater, one of the best apartment hotels in Vienna 👍. And to be viewed on the photos: They did not even bother to brand the old "Joyn" design into Adina... It is like you are booking a Novotel but get transferred to Ibis but the room rate remains the same. 🤬 Not recommended!
