Personable hosts. Nice little bar and outside seating for having a coffee or drink. Elevator in bldg. Easy walking to either side of town; close to public transport. After having read other reviews, I'd like to add a few comments. This is a family inn, not a corporate chain. People have claimed that Stelvio is "dated." We found it to be charming and homelike. Personally, I liked the unpretentious decor; it's not unlike many inns throughout Italy and Germany, where the family's personal taste and attention is evident. The building is historic. But it was immaculately kept and clearly well-maintained, and our bathroom was thoroughly modern. Our room was very clean, and while modest, it was comfortable and included a spacious wardrobe and a small desk/dressing table. Are the room phones from the 90s, as one reviewer wrote? Sure, but so what? Who doesn't travel with a mobile these days? The owners seem to be on site all day, available to help guests. The breakfast was very extensive and you can get a real espresso at the bar. I'll be staying here my next visit to Tirano.
