Although I wasn't visiting the Excel centre, the location was great. The Aloft hotel was easy to reach by public transport. The rooms are spacious and have a fridge, which is very useful. I didn't have breakfast here or eat in the restaurant so can't comment on the food. The staff were excellent and always helpful which made the hotel feel welcoming. The pool, steam room, and sauna made the stay extra special. I hope to stay again soon!

Rooms are really nice and clean. No stairs access to higher floors, as an autistic person I struggle to use lifts. A staff member offered to come with me however to me, a stranger in such a small place as a lift would add to the distress. I was already overwhelmed and find it difficult to communicate in these situations. I could not get my key card to work the lift the first night so I sat and dozed on a bench near the lift after my volunteer shift. After a time a staff member accompanied me up the fire stairs to my fifth floor room and on the way offered to move me to a floor accessible by lifts. I was happy with the move because I was scared I would be trapped in my room.I got in the new room about 1am. The second floor room was near the restaurant which, despite my calling and being assured they could meet my dietary needs, was unable to find anything I could eat. Each night I could hear men shouting and taking loudly outside my room around 1/2am. I am just finishing my stay, I have been volunteering with a homeless charity for three days. I am very hungry and lacking sleep. This was a big expense for me. I have slept better and been better catered for in the budget hotels I usually stay in. The rooms were the only saving grace and the small gym but that and the pool were not worth the extra cost. I feel isolated and unable to communicate my needs so I have not spoken further with staff. I do not recommend the hotel for anyone with autism spectrum disorders. The level of noise ( such as air con systems) for those with sensory processing disorder is difficult to manage. Disappointed and feel I have wasted my money. The national autistic society can offer advice and training for staff.

I stayed at Aloft for 5 days in September and it was very nice. The rooms were very clean and the house keeping service was splendid. The hotel staff were very friendly and always happy to help. Very reasonable location with direct access to the DLR station which made transportation to central London easy. Only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the food from the restaurant downstairs, it was expensive and not worth it. Hopefully that improves in the future.

Great location for the excel. However required a receipt of payment given this was a work trip, Systems weren't working during check out so was told card drop meant I would receive an email automatically..None was received. I have since called 3 times, 1st received a case member (which then just said resolved with no communication). 2nd call was told id receive an email within the hour and 4 days later nothing, 3rd one again I'd hear in 3-5 days. We're on day 5 now. Good location but post stay service has been truly awful.

If you're intending to go to the ExCel, the location couldn't be better - takes less than a minute's walk outside and you're in through the east entrance. The room was clean and quiet, but some odd design choices were made with the thin sliding door to the toilet and the only sink being next to the main door in the hallway. There also seemed to be no place to hang your hand towel, and even in the bathroom there was only one hook on the wall. The breakfast was okay but a bit pricey at £17.50. The bed was huge and comfortable. As we were on the second floor, the only view we got was that of a construction site, but fortunately the soundproofing of the hotel seemed to be good! So all in all, the stay was okay, but not exceptionally good in any way.
