Argos Hotel

We booked this hotel on a last minute site as we had one night in Ibiza. They were so lovely and helpful. We got in so early they let us check in early with a better room for free. Every member of staff was friendly, kind and helpful. I couldn’t recommend more highly. Made what could have been a stressful lay over as easy breeze. They pool and beach were lovely

After staying a number of times I have grown to love the ‘Argos Experience’, the beach position is great, Ibiza Old Town is 35 mins walk away (circa £8 taxi back ) Or better still take the water taxi from What three words Talamanca location: clauses.props.umbrella And land/get picked up from Ibiza Town from what3words location folds.facing.retract 11 euros per couple return (it’s great) Boats leave Talamanca on the quarter past and quarter to, then leave Ibiza Town on the hour and half past ( check time of last boat back at night - was 12.30 ) On my first visit some years ago I was confronted by a grumpy set of staff who appeared to despise visiting guests. Being of a thick skinned nature I relished such an encounter, many of the same staff are still employed today, and I am glad to say that things have very much improved - almost There are a new set of cocky youngsters who know very little about customer service, but they will soon Bedrooms are modern fresh clean and practical. Beach beds are free (30 euros a day further up the beach) and you can also use hotel beach towels (deposit required) The pool is ugly, outdated but clean and usable, I assume I’m not the only person who thinks this because the pool is massively underused. There is also an (underground) inside pool and hot tub, but not a nice bathing experience (again underused) The hotel interior is interesting, not sure how to describe so I am going to say pseudo Diaphanous, Roman, Footballers Wives. One of my favourite nuggets of architectural splendour is the armless figurine set back into its own glorious illuminated recessed grotto, not to mention the painted (Sistine Chapel) ceiling dome in reception. In fact the visual assault continues throughout, you don’t have to look, it finds you. The downstairs ‘pool bar’ shuts at 7pm, I discovered this when attempting to access the beach on the ground floor level, I was reassuringly and grumpily chastised by a member of ‘maintenance’ for seeking assistance in exiting the hotel. The reception level bar stays open until midnight (underused) the bar furniture and ambiance is a sort of white light industrial cafe, with a touch of corporate 80’s Hilton styling. I can’t imagine spending any time in there Before I forget, there is a great ‘Spa’ shop opposite the hotel reception, and car hire within reach of a thrown breakfast bread roll. Speaking of (buffet style) breakfast, I can’t fault it, plenty of choice for all nationalities, the chef also brought out some freshly chopped raw onion for one lady ( where is she from ?) but the star of the show goes to the mesmeric ‘fairground’ orange juicer which is a delight to operate. As well as the beautiful Fresh Orange Juice we also have Fresh Fruit and a fine selection of cheeses, bread and pastries. Every day a new ‘fried’ mystery morsel appears in the back row of the buffet, yesterday it was a chicken nugget, today a finger of deep fried Manchego cheese, I will await tomorrows offering with great anticipation and interest ( kids will love the breakfast here) Now, I could continue to write many more pages of observations but it may spoil your own inquisitive hotel exploration. All I can say is that ‘Argos’ will be a multilevel experience to all your known senses. So you can forget your vanilla tofu hip boutique Ibiza hotels, full of trendy, stylish, beautiful and monied people Why ?
