Very nice budget hotel with great stuff always ready to help. I stayed here last week and I am staying again this week. Before my second check-in, I got this message from them: "Dear Guest As a matter of social responsibility, we open our hotel to homeless people who stay on the streets during the winter months. These people, who are used to the conditions on the streets, experience some problems in closed spaces. They cause problems such as making noise, some unpleasant images, cleaning, and complying with the rules of living together. We wanted to share this situation with you. We would also like to inform you that you can cancel your reservation free of charge if you wish. We wish you a good day. Hotel Baykal". This is what kind of people they are. It is not the fanciest hotel but great value for the price and hosted by very nice people.

Hey, this is an honest review from a solo female traveler. This hotel is perfect for someone who would rather spend money touring Turkey than a luxury hotel. This place is far from tourists and gave me a Türkiye experience far from tourism. Food nearby is cheaper, the bus is literally a 30 second walk from the hotel which can take you anywhere. And the sweetest welcome. Breakfast was the same every day, but I never got tired because it was fresh. Also beautiful view of the whole city and Suleymaniye Mosque. I recommend this place forever❤️

We had a very great experience at Baykal Hotel. Rooms are clean and tidy, although the furniture are a bit old. Great price for what they provided. Breakfast was nice and fresh. We especially would like to thank Seyh Ahmete for his excellent services and he helped us solve our problem with sending postcard for about 30-45mins. Definitely recommend and would come back if we are in Istanbul next time!

The room was filthy. There was dirt and debris all over the beds. The staff was rude. Although we had made a reservation several weeks in advance, our room was "unavailable". After speaking with a booking agent, suddenly there was a room available. When we tried to leave to go to a new hotel, we were THREATENED that if we did not pay for a full night, they would call the police. The price per night was also inflated since we decided to leave (65 euros instead of 40-50). They take advantage of foreigners and they rudely waved us away once they knew we weren't going to stay. Do not stay in this awful hotel. UPDATE: the hotel responded with a poorly worded response. I have evidence of their awful service including the receipt for 65 euros, a recorded phone call with a member of staff who RUDELY hung up on an interpreter who asked them to be more polite to foreigners, and a report from the tourism police. According to them, this hotel has received several reports to the tourism police for similar tactics. DO NOT BELIEVE THESE TERRIBLE PEOPLE.
